I’ve come full circle with my 12 Gifts of Christmas posts, since one of my earlier posts was a Real Techniques gift, and now I’m finishing off with another fabulous gift set from the amazing brush brand. I thought I’d include two sets in the series as the first was all about sponges, whereas the The Real Techniques Illuminate + Accentuate set is much more about the brushes.
As you can see, the The Real Techniques Illuminate + Accentuate contains a lovely selection of products: five great brushes and two great sponges, making this a fab little starter set for anyone new to the brand, or an ideal extension set if you’re like me and have lots and lots of Real Techniques brushes in your everyday kit.
The brushes, from big to small, are: Bronzer Brush for lightweight bronzer application; Contour Brush for the delicate application of both contour and highlighter; Domed Shadow Brush for full-lid application; Shading Brush for general eyeshadow application and finally the Smudge Brush for application along the lash line.
The two sponges are the Miracle Complexion Sponge which is the original Real Techniques sponge that’s great for typical sponge purposes such as foundation and concealer application, and the Miracle Mini Eraser Sponge, which is actually designed for correcting mistakes such as mascara smudges and eyeshadow fallout, but I actually use mine (I have loads!) for applying and buffing-in colour corrector, or for blending out overly harsh blusher lines – they’re a really handy size for providing a multitude of tasks.
The The Real Techniques Illuminate + Accentuate is a gorgeous set that’s really well presented, so it would make for a lovely gift for any make-up lover; I especially love the design and colours used on the brush ferrules, plus, as expected, the brushes themselves are soft and brilliantly made. It was originally £40, but I’ve found that Superdrug have it for £30 here – link.
