I’ve been single for so long that the Spice Girls hadn’t even had their first reunion, so Valentine’s Day is just another day for me…no flowers, no chocolates, no romance…but I do get to hang out with my little man talking about Transformers, so all is not lost. I love fresh flowers, especially beautiful roses, but I thought I’d put together a little selection of great alternatives to fresh cut roses that’ll last a lot longer.
First up, there’s the beautiful Eternity Rose that I first featured last year in time for Christmas. It’s too late to get this in time for the big day, but if your special someone doesn’t mind waiting, or you’ll be celebrating V-Day at another time, then this is a lovely option to go for. It’s a freshly picked rose glazed and frozen in time, so it’ll always look its very best. I have the pink one but you can get all different colours, or a precious metal, depending on what you fancy. Find them here – link.
Fragrance is such an obvious choice for Valentine’s Day, but as there are some beautiful rose-led ones available, you can combine the two. I’m not a huge rose lover (although that seems to be changing recently) but one fragrance I wear a lot is Rosa Moceniga by The Merchant of Venice, as it’s so stunning yet simple and very elegant. Plus, how gorgeous is that bottle? Find it here – link – and also at House of Fraser. Another great rose choice is the new Flowerbomb Rose Twist from Viktor & Rolf, which is a great concept that contains a singular fragrance note that you can use under other perfumes to give it more of a rose scent. It’s here – link.
Rose beauty is another great choice as there are so many lovely products available that provide the scent of rose whilst performing other functions, such as face and body oils and bath products. A brand that does “rose” really well is Pixi, who have recently extended their rose range to include even more products – I would love to receive a bouquet of Pixi rose products! The above two are some of the cult originals from the brand, Rose Flash Balm and Rose Caviar Essence, but you can find the whole range here – link.
The final product is something I had burning all day on Sunday and my goodness it’s pretty, the La Montana Sacred Roses Candle. This is another product that you’d struggle to get before Valentine’s Day, but it’ll be worth the wait! La Montana really do capture fragrances so well, and burning Sacred Roses made my whole home (even though it was burning away in the bedroom) smell like freshly cut roses – amazing. It’s also reduced at the moment to £25 here – link.
