This Mask Monday brings you another Image masque in the form of the Image Skincare Ageless Total Resurfacing Masque, which is an exfoliating mask that makes uses of both chemical and physical exfoliators. It’s designed to brighten skin by lifting dead skin cells, leaving skin smooth and glowing. The physical exfoliators are micro-crystals, whilst the chemicals are Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid and Salicylic Acid, so a great trio to address a number of concerns.
I’m quite wary of physical exfoliators and I tend to keep my use of them to a minimum, as I think they can be quite abrasive to the skin, causing micro tearing. However, I also think the occasional use is okay (I don’t usually go for more than once a month) and I have to say, it’s hard to beat the smoothness of a physically exfoliated face! This mask treatment works on both levels, giving skin a really good exfoliation that’s very noticeable. You use it by applying it, leaving it for anything between 5-30 minutes (I went for around 20) and then adding a touch of water and gently working the product around the skin for the manual exfoliation element. I do really like this as my skin felt really good afterwards; it looked and felt smooth and plump and didn’t appear aggravated or upset by the multi-exfoliation. The product contains Hyaluronic Acid and Arnica too, so these two ingredients would likely help skin to recover from the experience, making this a generally great option if you like the manual exfoliation route, but want something a little more caring and kind to skin. If you really want to keep things gentle, you can use this in the traditional masking format: apply, leave, rinse, minus the final stage of working the product around the face.
