Kiko are the absolute kings of creating collections that you just want. They’re always packed full of pretties that are so enticing and appealing, and the Kiko Waterflower Magic Collection is a perfect example of this; expect pretty colours, beautifully feminine packaging, and products that are not only gorgeous to look at, but actually really useful and practical too. There’s a lot to love in Waterflower Magic!
I first saw this collection on Instagram and zoned straight in on the stunning blushers, that are two-toned and matte, so could not be more up my street. They’ve also got similarly packaged bronzers alongside a host of other goodies such as eyeshadow palettes, a really pretty highlighter palette and a good mix of foundations, lip products and everything in-between; Kiko don’t mess about when they launch a new collection. Here’s a little look at some of the bits I was sent to play with:
The Waterflower Magic Foundation Pigment Drops are really interesting, as they feel like an oily base with rich pigmentation and i’m intrigued enough to want to hunt down my correct shade. I did actually try the shade I was sent, even though it’s the fifth darkest (there are eight shades in total) to see what the finish was like, and it really does look like it could be a great foundation. There are two shades of the Waterflower Magic 3in1 Kabuki Brush available, the pictured lilac shade and a pink one too – the handle is comfortable and the brush is super soft.
The Waterflower Magic 3in1 Mascara is a really good buy, with two completely different brushes that really do provide very different looks, so you’re getting good value, although I’m a bit confused about the 3-in-1 element – maybe they’re suggesting you layer both brushes for the third look? I like both brushes, although I’ve found myself favouring the straight brush. The formula is also really good, with decent coverage and minimal smudging.
I took one look at the Waterflower Magic Eyeliner and thought there was no way I’d be able to make that work for me as I am RUBBISH at eyeliner, ever since I started getting my lashes curled, as I just can’t get close enough to the lashline, but I did give it a go and I’m surprised how clean a line it gave, which I think is mostly down to the formula which is dense and pigmented, providing a solid line that dries matte. I also like the application as the slant makes it easier to angle – I haven’t tried it myself, but I would guess that a cat flick would be fairly easy with this.
Now onto the two products I’ve used the most, starting with the Waterflower Magic Blush, which I absolutely adore. It’s available in three shades – I might have to get myself the Peach Tree colour – and the shade I have is Pink Shiver and it’s every bit as pretty as it looks, as well as being a total joy to use. I really like the fact that you can use either the lighter or darker pink, or blend the two, for a bespoke pink. It’s also a lovely take on pink blusher that warms the cheeks naturally. I love this and I’m using it lots and lots right now.
The Waterflower Magic Bronzer is my second favourite product in the collection, and there are two shades – the paler Warm Honey and the deeper Natural Sienna. I have Natural Sienna, which I was worried might be too dark, but it’s actually a universally flattering bronze that doesn’t look grubby on the skin, and just adds a subtle warmth with a matte finish. As with all Kiko powders, the product is silky and easy to blend, so if you’re a bit heavy-handed you can buff it out.
The swatches above from top to bottom start with the Foundation Pigment Drops in shade 04 – Honey, Eyeliner, Bronzer in Natural Sienna and Blush in Pink Shiver, with the first swatch showing the darker colour, the second the lighter and the third a blend of the two pinks together. In the picture below I’m wearing the bronzer, the blusher and the mascara applied with the straight brush.
Soooo much love for this stunning collection that’s such a joy to use and really love to look at too. It’s also well priced and with such a good mix of shades, I hate to bring out such a cliche, but there really is something for everyone! It’s the Kiko Spring collection so hopefully it’ll be around for a little while, but I have found that things sell out quite quickly in previous collections, so if you see something in particular that you really like, move quickly.
