I think skincare has been a bit of a challenge for a lot of us during the various lockdowns, particularly since many have reported having skin that’s started playing-up and behaving very differently to normal. Add to that the fact that we can’t book in for facials or any kind of specialist treatment and you can understand why so many are struggling. Temple Spa have recently launched their My Kinda Skincare Collection, which is a brilliantly simplified approach to skincare; just figure out what your skin is doing (is it dry, oily, normal, sensitive, combination…or like mine, a bit of everything?!) then grab the according trio.
I went for the pick your own trio, mostly because I really wanted to try the Be Still Settling Moisturiser and I was very keen to get my hands on another pot of the gorgeous In The Beginning cleanser, which is one of my all-time favourite cleansers. Each trio contains a cleanser and moisturiser suited to your skin needs, alongside the Toning Essence, and if your skin has been playing up recently, I honestly think that one of the best things you can do is strip your skincare right back to the very basics: a good cleanse, a gentle toner and a skin-suited moisturiser.
I didn’t get on too well with the Be Still Settling Moisturiser, but I think this is because my skin is breaking out with so many things recently that it doesn’t normally react to, so I don’t think it’s fair to assume this would normally break me out and this is why I’m reserving judgement on a lot of products I’ve tried recently – even my all-time favourite spot treatment broke me out, so my skin currently cannot be trusted!
The Toning Essence is a really nice, gentle mist that reminds me of the sort of product facialists use in-between segments of a treatment. This is great post-cleanse/pre-moisturiser, but also really love to use after a mask to settle and rebalance. Interestingly, the fragrance is inspired by a Mediterranean Summer salad, so you have a mix of fruit and veg including basil, melon, ginger and lemon.
As I mentioned earlier, I absolutely adore In The Beginning as I think it’s the perfect example of a luxurious cleanser that ticks all the boxes. It’s a very gently exfoliating balm that’s rich and thick and feels unctuous in the best possible way. Everything about it is rich, from the fragrance to the texture, and I like to use this by applying it, working it around and leaving it for 5 minutes whilst I’m in the bath. If you can, take your time working it around your face as I promise, your skin will be smooth and glowing afterwards.
The Temple Spa My Kind a Skincare Collection costs £65 for all three full-sized products plus a cosmetic bag for storage, which is a £10 saving off the RRP of all three products purchased individually. You can find the whole collection here – link.
