Time for the next post in my little Oudgasm series, this one featuring Rose Oud from the Kayali Oudgasm Collection. This is my very favourite from the four members of the Oudgasm family, and I had planned to save my review for the final post, but I wanted to talk about it sooner, so here we are!
The Oudgasm Rose Oud fragrance is one of my absolute finds of the year as it’s so unusual, so pretty, so wearable, so moreish….and I feel like it would convent anyone who was uncertain about how they feel about Oud as a fragrance, and this one is beautifully balanced, fresh and inviting; a really modern take on a rose scent as well as an Oud scent – you have the smoky sexiness of the Oud alongside the bright loveliness of the rose and the additional notes brings them together so wonderfully, it’s a very exciting scent!
The fragrance opens with a fruity burst of lemon and pear alongside that first hit of floral thanks to the geranium. The middle notes of rose and peony add more floral depth, whilst the vanilla sweetens, and the Oud and Cashmere Wood give the rest of the fragrance the perfect base to sit on, stopping the floral notes from becoming overly saccharine, instead providing the loveliest, grown-up take on a rose fragrance that still manages to feel modern, yet classical at the same time – it’s not too in-your-face and it really, really lasts! I have the 10ml bottle that I have been using regularly since it arrived and I’ve only made a small dent.
