I hope you’ve been enjoying my blogs on the new Kayali Oudgasm collection – if you haven’t read my previous posts, here’s my review of Cafe Oud and here’s my review of Rose Oud. Today I’m talking about Vanilla Oud, which is my second favourite from the quad.
If you like a vanilla scent but fancy something a little deeper, sexier and more full bodied, Vanilla Oud might be the one for you. The top notes are pear, praline and saffron, Bulgarian Rose is at the heart, then the base notes are Cashmere Wood, vanilla sugar, White Musk, Oakmoss and then Oud. I feel like the Oudgasm collection can be split into two groups: Cafe and Tobacco for those who absolutely love Oud, and Rose and Vanilla, for those who are a little more reserved when it comes to Oud, but still want to dip their toe in.
For me, Vanilla Oud gives an immediate burst of sweet (not sickly) vanilla that quickly settles into that spicy, warming and woody base. The sweetness remains even after the drydown, so you do get a well-balanced scent that’s a great choice for Winter and feels like a lovely take on a vanilla fragrance for the colder months.
