Beauty Cleanse skincare provide beautifully-formulated, affordable and inclusive products aimed to repair and maintain a healthy skin barrier. The apothecary-style range has recently been redone and now includes a small collection of cleansers, treatments, oils and moisturisers, with a few specialist products designed to help those of us with troubled, breakout-prone skin. I am a firm believer in the benefit of focusing on your skin barrier above everything else, as I don’t see how it’s possible to treat existing conditions without giving skin a healthy and balanced base to start with, so skincare brands that put barrier health at the top of their agenda are always a win for me! I was kindly sent three products to try, so let’s have a look:
I specifically requested the cleansing duo as cleansing is my favourite skincare step; I like to take my time and make it a bit of a event in my day, so I lie to use sensorial products that feel both indulgent and beneficial. The Superfood Cleansing Oil (£25.99 here) is an oil-to-milk cleanser full of superfoods such as cabbage and cranberry, with the additional benefit of fighting food waste, since the hemp and cranberries are both rescued from being rejected for food usage (here I am, feeling sorry for cranberries…) which I think is so fantastic – what a great way to reduce waste!
My favourite of the trio is the Pink Ubtan (£21.99 here) which is an exfoliating cleanser/mask hybrid that comes in a powder form that you mix with water to form a beautifully pink paste. It took me a few attempts to get the water-to-product ratio right, plus it can be a little messy with pink powder everywhere, but this works as a really lovely, gentle exfoliator that feels like something you’ve knocked up fresh in your kitchen and applied to the face. Its such a great choice for anyone who likes to use a manual exfoliator that isn’t too harsh.
The final product is the 3B Blue Elixir (£24.99 here) which is a treatment oil that contains bakuchiol – a known retinol alternative – alongside a host of gorgeous oils to provide a treatment that is both nourishing and effective at putting a bit of life back into your skin. I’m not a big oil user anymore, so I’m selective about the ones I keep in my kit – I like this one for use after a facial (particularly one where I’ve used an exfoliator) as it feels light on the skin and doesn’t break me out.
