I’ve had two consultations at the Harley Street Sk:n Clinic venue and I have to say, having visited a few of the Sk:n Clinics, this one is probably my favourite; you help yourself to tea and coffee, read magazines and just generally chill out among friendly staff and casual yet clean decor. My most recent consultation was with Doctor Firas Al-Niaimi who is the Group Medical Director for Sk:n and a man who truly knows his skin! Interestingly he said that I have several types of acne and inflammation on my skin, which of course makes treatment even trickier as more often than not, a product will do great things for one type of acne whilst causing problems with the other types, so if you’re someone who finds that treatments just give you different types of spots then you might have a similar problem to me.
It was agreed that I would have a course of pulsed dye laser to treat the spots and inflammation before going on to the rather scary C02re laser to treat the post inflammatory pigmentation and general acne scarring. I’ll have three sessions of pulsed dye laser over the course of three months before we crack on with the C02re. The pulsed dye laser is a lot like the N-Lite that I’ve had previously that worked really well, so I’m looking forward to seeing how that works on my redness and inflammation. The pulsed dye shouldn’t cause any downtime, but the C02re will involve some pretty scary skin flaking and peeling, which, if I’m honest, I’m actually quite excited about as I always like to visually witness something working! It’s safe to say that I’ll be documenting the whole process as I go, and I’ll take as many pictures as I think will help to demonstrate the treatments, so if you’ve ever wondered about either of these treatments then keep your eyes peeled for my posts. I’ll be starting the first of the pulsed dye laser treatments tomorrow and I can’t wait! For more info on Sk:n and to find your nearest clinic, head here – link.
