I haven’t done many Products I Love lists this year, so when I was putting together one for May, I realised there were so many products that I’ve really enjoyed using and reached for continually this year, that it would make sense to do a kind of mid year review, which is exactly what this is! Here are ten products I’ve been using religiously this year that I will no doubt replenish when finished.
Starting with skincare, the Nuxe Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm (review here) is a seriously rich balm that I use every night as it’s very nourishing and so thick that it stays in place all night – in fact, I can still feel it on my lips now, and that’s after eating two meals and drinks, so it’s definitely a product that sticks around and keeps lips impressively smooth. The Urban Decay B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray (review here) was a product that I quite liked at first, but ended up growing to really love the more I used it as it’s so great for balancing skin that freaks out easily, plus it works really well after an acid tone too. My love for the Murad Blemish Clearing Solution (review here) is well documented on this blog and it’s still a product I reach for repeatedly when my skin is breaking out and nothing else works. Finally, the Elemis Nourishing Omega Rich Cleansing Oil (review here) is one of the best cleansing oils I’ve ever used as it really does melt through all make-up so quickly, plus it feels lovely on the skin.
Next up are base products, starting with the Gosh Foundation Drops (review here), which is another product I’ve ranted and raved about since they launched as it’s just such a lovely foundation – perfect finish, perfect coverage, lasts and doesn’t break me out. The Boots No7 Airbrush Away Colour Balancing Primer was rejected at first as I sheered it out too much and then wondered why it didn’t work…It’s a primer, so it needs to be patted on to problem areas and then it colour corrects beautifully; review soon. The ReCover Concealer is one of the most effective yet natural concealers I’ve ever come across. You need the tiniest amount and it layers beautifully.
I’ve been so in love with all the newness from Clinique this year, but my heart was totally taken by their lip launches, of which there are many and they are all gorgeous! I had to narrow it down to one so I went for the Wink shade of the Pop Lacquer Lip Colour and Primer as it’s one of those spot-on shades that’s the perfect, everyday pink that’s slightly nude and will work with pretty much every kind of eye look. The L’Oreal Brow Artist Sculpt (intro to the range here) has received quite mixed reviews, but I’ve personally found it so handy for quickly filling and then finishing brows – it’s ideal if you’re in a hurry. Finally my current go-to highlighter is the Aura shade from the Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighter line as it’s the most perfect, cool pink that works with my undertones so well, whilst lifting my skin and giving such good glow – I really love it!
