I wrote my intro post to the Obagi-C Rx range around a month ago, so now I’ve been using the Obagi Skincare products for I think about six weeks and I thought now would be a good time to share more detailed reviews of each of the products. I’m still getting on really well with the range, and I can definitely see some great results already. I actually find the range really exciting as the products work so quickly and perform so well; the positive experience has been so much more than I expected it to be, as I thought I was in for a bit of a slog where my skin would be awful for a few months before it started changing, but thankfully that hasn’t been the case. My skin is definitely more dry, although thankfully it doesn’t look it, it just feels it, and i can live with that.
The Obagi C-Cleansing Gel is the product I tend to use as my morning cleanse, as it’s a refreshing and thoroughly cleansing product. To be completely honest, I don’t love it, as I find the fact that it’s so soapy a bit too unnecessary for my skin, plus it’s also quite heavily fragranced which doesn’t help. Also, the packaging is a bit frustrating as you only need a tiny amount, which is hard to achieve and I often squeeze too much out. Having said that, I do like this as a morning cleanser as it effectively removes all the nighttime skincare.
The Obagi Professional C-Serum 15 is absolutely amazing and easily the best Vitamin C serum I’ve ever used. I think I mentioned in a previous post that I have been wanting a Vit C serum to add to my routine for quite a while, but they’re all either too grainy, prone to piling with other skincare/makeup or just too harsh, but this Obagi one is just perfect. The serum itself is quite silky, so it moves around the skin easily and sinks in quickly. The result is a lit-from-within glow that my skin absolutely loves. Also, I have found other Vit C serums tend to break me out, but this one doesn’t, so a good choice for us spot-prone girls too. I will definitely be repurchasing this when I run out.
There are three products in the Obagi range that I’m completely obsessed with and the Hydrate is definitely one of them. The Obagi Hydrate Facial Moisturiser is a gorgeously silky (that word again – Obagi do silky products very well) moisturiser that feels incredibly nourishing on the skin, and leaves skin feeling noticeably hydrated, plump and glowing. I would expect something this rich to leave skin feeling greasy or flooded, but it really doesn’t, it just feels wonderful and again, it works really well with other products and sits well under make-up. I use this as both a morning and evening moisturiser and I genuinely look forward to applying it. Another star product that I will repurchase.
Finally, I finish with an SPF, which is currently from another brand as unfortunately the beautiful Obagi Sun Shield Tint SPF50 in Cool was just too dark for me, which was a real shame as it’s such a great SPF that feels great on the skin and works really well with the other range. The Cool shade is really fair, but not fair enough for me and I would say it’s 2-3 shades too dark for me. If you’re not ridiculously pale then this is a fantastic SPF to check out.
