NOTD: Jubilee Nails

For the Jubilee I really wanted to have festive nails, but I was in a bit of a panic as I was so pushed for time, so I decided to just go with the typical British colours of red, white and blue, and add a couple of crown themed nail decals to the mix.

The colours I used were actually from the 17 Best of British Nail Art Kit (S) which consist of the three main British colours.  They’re not really supposed to be used as full colour varnishes and consequently have a very fine brush which of course made applying them all over the nail a bit tedious.  However, I was determined so I cracked on regardless!

The formula of the varnishes is actually really good, especially considering the pack costs a fiver, so I’ll definitely be using these for future nail art.  As is usually the case, the white applied quite streakily and would benefit from a third coat, but I didn’t have time to apply three coats so all the pictures below have two coats.  In fairness, the other two colours only really needed one coat to go opaque and didn’t streak.

I applied the crown nail decals on the white nails only.  I’m not sure why, I just wanted to keep the look as random as possible which is why both hands have different nails painted different colours.

I then finished with a top coat of Nails Inc Kensington Caviar (S) to keep the nails neat and effectively hide my smudges!

After the pictures were taken, I used OPI Correct & Clean-Up to neaten the base lines and get rid of any of the varnish that worked it’s way on to my fingertips.

This is by no means my favourite NOTD, but it’s fun, festive, a little bit different and certainly a break from the norm from me.
