Just before Christmas, I write a quick intro to two of the new ranges from Revolution Skincare, the Glycolic Acid range and the Retinol range, with the promise of a more detailed follow-up looking at each individual range, so here’s the Retinol one! If you follow me on here or Instagram, you’ll know I’ve been really struggling with my skin for the last year due to various health issues, so I have to tread very carefully with what I use and there are certain ingredients that my skin point blank refuses to tolerate, such as Niacinamide and rose/rosehip oil, which is a real bummer as those two particular ingredients are in soooo many products, such as some of the Retinol range from Revolution, so this is more of a closer look at the products and an overview of what they do, as opposed to a full-on review.
I’m kind of obsessed with the skincare section of the Revolution Beauty site as it’s so well presented; their skincare range is absolutely massive, but everything is broken down into categories as well as ingredients, so you can find exactly what you want. I also really love the packaging and I want all of the masks and all of the toners!
I have five of the products from the Retinol range and there are currently seven in total. The Retinol Cream Cleanser (£10) and the Retinol Toner are my favourites from the bunch because I really like their formulations. The cleanser lives up to its name, and feels really creamy and hydrating, but not greasy or occlusive. I think it’s works best as a second cleanse as it’s light enough to not need anything more for removal.
The Retinol Toner (£12) contains Niacinamide, so it’s a really nicely balanced product that lightly resurfaces whilst hydrating and balancing at the same time. It’s one of those ‘suits all’ type toners as it’s so gentle (against my better judgement due to my skin hating Niacinamide, I did actually try it and it is lovely) and refreshing, and I think tricky skin types that are prone to breakouts might benefit most of all.
The Retinol Eye Cream (£10) is one of two eye creams in the range, the other being the Toning Eye Cream which comes in a concealer style wand that I think is a really good idea for eye cream! The Retinol Eye Cream is designed to address a number of issues, providing nourishment and depuffing with a mix of antioxidants, Green Tea and Caffeine, all of which are great for treating the under eye area.
The Retinol Serum (£10) is currently sitting in my stash, ready to be full explored when my skin settles down as it’s got a great and simple ingredient list of basically just oils and retinol – I’m a big fan of skincare with few ingredients as it makes my life a lot easier as I can see exactly how my skin responds, so I will hopefully be giving this a good go soon!
Finally, the Retinol Overnight Cream (£12) which is described as an overnight treatment (I do love an overnight treatment!) and again, it contains lovely ingredients that are aimed at treating troubled skin types, but are also beneficial to most. It leads with Rosehip Oil which is a big no for my skin, plus Bisabolol (from chamomile) which is also very soothing. I would imagine this would be one of those great products that just calms everything right down, and the reviews are very positive so this is well worth checking out.
