I am so excited to be sharing this with you today as the ZIIP DOT Blemish Treatment Device has arrived and it’s a huge innovation in the world of acne treatments! I am a committed user of the ZIIP HALO for a variety of reasons, one of which is that it’s such a great treatment for acne and it really does make a huge difference to my breakouts. Microcurrent has been repeatedly proven to be a great acne home treatment as it’s gentle yet effective, but for some reason it doesn’t get the kind of love it deserves and I think that might be because a lot of people don’t really know how to utilise it as a skin treatment for acne. Thankfully, the ZIIP DOT is here to change all of that, and whilst it’s still very early days for me as I’ve only been using it a short time, first impressions are very, very exciting.
First things first, aesthetically the ZIIP DOT Blemish Treatment Device has managed to somehow straddle the bridge between appealing to a younger audience without ostracising older users; the design of the device is cute, fun and dinky, but I don’t feel silly using it as a 41 year old with long established adult acne. It’s available in a range of four shades (yellow, white, grey and the pictured purple) and is reasonably priced at £169.99, or £153 with code SASCHAZIIP. It comes with everything you need – the new Clear Gel launched alongside it – and is quick and intuitive to use.
It comes in-built with two types of of easily accessible treatments (short press of power button for the single treatment, longer press for full face) designed for either a full face or individual spots and you can tailor this to your needs. The individual spot treatment takes 90 seconds (60 seconds of microcurrent followed by 30 seconds of nanocurrent) and the full face is six minutes, which is four minutes of microcurrent followed by 2 minutes of nanocurrent, so the spot/s are being targeted from every angle, with the two step treatment designed to not only reduce the breakout by addressing inflammation and bacteria, the healing is also encouraged by the soothing nanocurrent with encourages cellular turnover and rapid recovery. What this means is that the lifespan of your spot is drastically shortened, whilst the after-effects (dryness, scarring, pigmentation etc) are either massively reduced or removed completely – is this not a dream product for those of us who have been battling acne for so long?! This really feels like such huge progress for targeting the literal cause and effect of breakouts.
The ZIIP DOT comes with a small tube of the Clear Gel that contains a variety of soothing goodies such as cucumber and aloe vera – two things I’m always happy to put on my skin – alongside DendriClear, which is new to me but apparently doing all sorts of amazing things in the ongoing fight against acne by gently treating spots whilst encouraging a health microbiome. I have also used my ZIIP DOT with my beloved Crystal Gel and it works a treat. You use the ZIIP DOT by applying the gel, turning on the device, lining up the upper electrode (the one behind the ZIIP logo) with the breakout and moving the device clockwise and anti-clockwise for the duration of the treatment. The first part of the session can tingle a bit, in a sparky way rather than actually painful, and the nanocurrent session just feels lovely and soothing.
I think the biggest question people will have is whether they need a ZIIP DOT if they already have a ZIIP HALO, since any spot-sufferer will know that the HALO already does truly amazing things for breakouts. I would say that if you’re someone who struggles with stubborn breakouts then yes, this is a great tool that will definitely help. I would also recommend having this if you’re a bit rubbish at keeping to a routine as this is so quick and easy that it would be hard to talk yourself out of a speedy little zapping session. I have a lot to say about the differences between the ZIIP HALO and the ZIIP DOT, so I’ll dedicate another post to it very soon.
It’s definitely way too early for me to share an adequate review, so I’ll just share one quick experience; yesterday I had an angry cystic spot appearing on my jawline that I treated with the ZIIP DOT and this morning I had to use a mirror to find where it was as the lump itself had gone completely, leaving just a red mark in it’s place. I am really, really excited to write my full review soon!
In the meantime, the ZIIP DOT Blemish Treatment Device has officially launched for £169.99 and don’t forget to use my code – SASCHAZIIP – to get a 10% discount, bringing it down to just £153.
