I really like the idea of bronzing rocks as opposed to a flat, pan bronzer as I think it gives a lot of room to play with. These Bronzing Rocks are small boulders of bronzing powder mixed with gold and bronze shimmer. You use them by swirling the brush over the rocks and applying as you would a normal bronzer.
The advantage you have with rocks as opposed to more typical bronzing balls is that the edges of the rocks result in a lot more colour pick-up, so these are great for covering large areas of skin like legs, arms and decolletage. I’d say these rocks are more suited to the body as the shimmer contained in them is very dense, but they’re also ideal for night time looks if you like a high-shine finish. I don’t think these work well for daytime wear due to the high shimmer, but that’s just my personal preference.
I recently used these as an eyeshadow as the high shimmer paired with the strong bronze tones makes this a really flattering and easily blendable colour for my blue eyes. If you fancy seeing what I mean, have a look at my Bronze Eye FOTD post here.
In conclusion, this and the Peep Show Mascara (review to follow soon) have proved a really great introduction to a brand that I’d never have considered before. The quality of the rocks is really obvious as soon as you play around with them and the packaging is cute and pretty without being too young; I’ve always associated 17 with a much younger target audience, but these products have changed my mind.
One final thing to mention is that these rocks are ideal to travel with as you can plonk a couple in a smaller container and still get the same effect, even though you’re using fewer rocks. For £4.99 this is a fantastic price due to the fact that it’s a multi-purpose product that’ll definitely be of use when the sun comes out. It’s available at the Boots website here.

How have I missed this?? This looks awesome! Such a fun little thingy!:) xx
I know! It’s cute isn’t it? Definitely unique as I was trying to think of a comparison for it but apart from those bronzing balls that I mentioned I don’t think there’s anything else like it xx
Great review and great blog. I’ve only recently discovered 17 make up and love it. I think the peep show mascara is my favourite mascara that I’ve ever used. Looking forward to your review.
Thanks Susan, Peep Show is fantastic isn’t it? I’ve only recently started trying out 17 make-up but I’ve been really impressed with it and I can’t believe how cheap it is! xx
I, too always thought of 17 as just a teen brand but I’m adding more and more of their range to my make up bag as the months go on. Doll’d Up is now my go-to mascara and it’s a massively bargain – half the price of my usual No7 fave.
