It’s that time again, and the Glossybox July 2014 box is an interesting one as it’s themed around the best of American products, with theme named “Stars and Stripes”. It’s interesting that both this box and the Birchbox contain a collection of smaller products which I think psychologically might disappoint, as when you open the box you have to do a bit of a hunt for the products, unlike when you open a box full of larger products that are practically spilling out of the box – whether you like what’s in there or not, I think the latter makes you feel more like you’re getting your money’s worth!
The July 2014 Glossybox is a good’n. It isn’t as good as last month, but it’s certainly right up my street and quite brave in that it contains all make-up and no skincare. Whilst I love a good bit of skincare, I’m always much happier with a make-up heavy box. Us Brits are always a bit envious of the American beauty market as it often feels a lot more comprehensive than ours and the brands we love regularly launch things there that we either have to wait ages for here, or never get at all, so tapping into our lust for all things American beauty was a wise decision for Glossybox I think. Anyway, on to the contents which are in order of favourites as usual:
Bellapierre Cosmetics Ltd Mineral Lipstick
This is a full-sized product from cult mineral brand Bellapierre. I’m not sure but I think there might be different shades in each box as there’s no mention of a specific shade on the blurb. The shade I got is Mandarina which is quite frankly awesome and couldn’t be better timed; it’s a beautiful, bright orangey coral shade. If you remember last month I mentioned how I was getting into orange lips and this shade looks stunning. It’s £20 so a pretty fab inclusion in the box.
Absolute New York Perfecting Eyeshadow Primer
This is a brand I haven’t heard of, and since the price on the blurb is in dollars I’m thinking it’s something we can’t get in the UK, which is great as I love the idea of there being products in these boxes that are only available through the box. This is designed to even skin tone and create a base for eyeshadows. I’m looking forward to giving it a go and it’s priced at $4.99 for what appears to be a full-sized product.
Color Club polish
I’ve heard amazing things about Color Club but I’m yet to have a chance to try the range…until now! The colour included is called Glossy Seal which is Glossybox exclusive, so if you like it then you’ll have to buy the box. The shade is a muted blue and I can’t decide both where it fits (is it a little bit summery or more of an autumnal shade?) nor whether I like it or not, as in a way I think it could look quite pretty and sophisticated, but there’s a chance it might be a little on the dull side too. I’ll just have to get swatching! It’s full-sized and worth $8.
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara
This is a fantastic mascara and the only reason it’s lower down on the list than you might expect is because I already have it, but I’m more than happy to enjoy this gorgeous dinky sized version! This is a fabulous inclusion in the box and a great introduction to the Tarte brand for those who are unfamiliar. I also absolutely love the packaging too. Full-sized this is £19.50 for 7ml and you’re getting a 4ml sample.
Carmex Lip Balm
This is last on my list for a couple of reasons; firstly, whilst we all love a bit of Carmex, it isn’t a brand we lust after because it’s so accessible here, plus I don’t like potted lip balms unless there’s no alternative as I really hate sticking my finger into balms, especially when out and about as I hate the feeling of it under my nails! It’s still not a bad inclusion though and it’s certainly handy at the very least. It’s full-sized and worth £2.69.
There we have a look at what’s happening in the July 2014 Glossybox. I think this will be a popular box as it contains a lovely selection of American goodies, some of which are tricky for us to access in the UK. I also really like the American flag box which makes a very cute alternative to the usual pink. If you want to get your own Glossybox July 2014 then head here – link.
*PR Sample
I’ve just received my box this morning and I love it! It has exactly the same contents as yours but for a Dr Bronner’s soap in place of the Tarte mascara. I’m most excited about the gorgeous lipstick, too!
I’ve put a brief post on my blog about it this morning if you’d like to take a look.

Not the best USA picks, the Tarte Mascara is great to see but Carmex is available here. Not as exciting as I’d hoped
