Another week, another pink lipstick! I’m sure you’re sick of me proclaiming undying love for my newest find, but I really am rather taken with particular shade. Venus is a limited edition pink from Mac’s Heavenly Creature Colour range and is described as a “sheer yellow pink with pearl”.
This was a total impulse buy, I saw it, swatched it and bought it, all in under a couple of minutes. I then applied it in an elevator and absolutely loved it, so I’ve been topping it up throughout the day since.
It’s a very flattering and natural pink that finishes off my day time make-up perfectly. It’s just bright enough without being too in your face and even though it leans yellow, it doesn’t show up any yellowing in my teeth.
It’s a lustre texture, which to me means it’s a pretty standard, “neither here nor there” finish, meaning that it isn’t super glossy or particularly matte, just a typical, old-fashioned lipstick finish with a gentle sheen.
It can be built up to quite a strong hue of pink, but even then it doesn’t overpower and still looks really pretty. I’d like to say it’s a ‘my lips but better’ finish, but it’s just a fraction too bright for that.
Being the fickle beauty obsessive that I am, I’ve fallen hopefully in love with this shade and as it’s limited edition, I now have to decide whether to stock up or not. It’s available now from Mac priced at £14.
Disclosure: Impulsively purchased by me. Who says impulse buys are a bad thing?
