Liz Earle Strengthening Nail Colour – Ebb Tide and Pure Poetry

Liz Earle have recently branched out into the wonderful world of nail products with a range of 12 new nail colour shades.  The 12 shades are grouped into three sets of four: classic nudes, bold brights and deep darks.  I’d say the colour category descriptions are fairly accurate, although anyone seeking a neon pink or canary yellow in the bold brights will be bitterly disappointed!  However, staying within the Liz Earle theme of gentle, easy colour, all shades are very wearable, and I would imagine quite universally flattering.

Interestingly, each shade is named after a rose, which I actually quite like and see as very “Liz Earle”.  The formula is enriched with avocado and borage oils, which not only nourishes nails, but also adds a glossiness to the finished colour, so it’s a great inclusion in nail varnish that I don’t think I’ve previously come across.  The formula is extremely runny – probably the runniest I’ve ever come across – which usually means poor colour payoff, yet that doesn’t seem to be the case for these polishes.  If you’re in a hurry, one coat would suffice, but as is usually the case with all polishes, two coats ensures solid and even coverage.  The finish is streak-free and very glossy.

Ebb Tide is a modern nude; a blue tinged grey with a tiny hint of lilac that I would imagine will be quite popular.  Pure Poetry is a bright, glossy red that isn’t too in your face but still maintains the glamour of a red nail.  Interestingly, Pure Poetry slots into the deep darks category rather than the bold brights.  I’m reserving full judgement on the formula until I’ve had a chance to try it on my own nails (so expect a NOTD with Ebb Tide very soon) but assuming it’s as good as I think it will be, I’m thoroughly impressed with this new launch from Liz Earle, which combines quality polish, decent shades and a beneficial formula at an extremely reasonably £7.50 a pop. Not bad eh? Liz Earle Strengthening Nail Colour is available now both online – link – and instore.
