More make-up to get excited about, and this particular batch comes courtesy of fun yet fabulous – and chocolate-loving – Too Faced. As it’s July there are so many new arrivals, so I’m doing a few intro posts to new products which I’ll then follow up with more thorough reviews.
It takes a lot to get me really excited about new make-up; don’t get me wrong, I have a love for make-up that sets off an intense joy nearly every time I see something new, but having been doing this for almost 3 years, I do have a slightly ‘seen it all before’ approach to new make-up. The reason I’m saying this is because I really love the Too Faced approach to make-up; it’s fun, fresh and practical without being patronising; it advises without lecturing and the shades and colours are fashionable yet wearable, so all-in-all the brand is just a little bit wonderful.
I’ll start with the product I think will be the most popular, which is the Cat Eyes Ferociously Feminine Eye Shadow & Liner Collection which is a palette of nine shadows, 3 of which can be used wet or dry depending on your intensity preference. This is a fantastic example of what I was banging on about above; this is a whole palette dedicated to achieving the iconic cat’s eye look and it includes a detailed guide on how to achieve three takes on the look; fashion, day and classic.
Next up is the new foundation launch which is the product I was most excited about as I do love me a good base. The Cocoa Powder Foundation is a powder foundation packed full of antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and hyaluronic filling spheres so it’s a powder with skincare benefits. I love a powder foundation, even though I really shouldn’t because my skin can look dry very easily, but nothing pleases me more than the natural, high coverage finish of a decent powder base. The Cocoa Powder Foundation is available in eight different shades and is designed to offer a “rose petal finish” which I understand to mean a soft matte effect that doesn’t look chalky. I have only used it once as a setting powder in a panicked rush yesterday, but so far so good and I will post a more detailed review soon. The Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation also launches on the 11th August 2014 for £28 from Debenhams.
The last of the new releases from Too Faced comes in the form of the Bulletproof 24-Hour Eyeliner which is a big, fat liner that comes to a precision point, making it the ideal easy tool for creating smoky eyes. The bottom end is a fantastic sponge – much better than you usually get at the end of liner pencils – that’s firm enough to get smudgey with it, but not so firm that it’ll remove all the product which is what I’ve found with other similar products. There are eight shades in total, a couple of which are on my “to try” list (mainly the white and the silver) and all the big names are included such as black, a couple of brown shades, grey, purple and green. The Too Faced 24-Hour Eyeliners launch on the 11th August 2014 for £19 a pop and will also be available at Debenhams.
There we have it! Lots of lovely goodies coming our way from the awesome Too Faced. I’m so happy they’re so readily available in the UK as they really are a brand that I rate; their products deliver on what they promise and are fun to use, so what’s not to love?

Love the look of these! *starts saving pennies*
Lovely pics and great detailed descriptions! Thanks for this rundown. Would you mine telling me what shade of the cocoa powder foundation that is in the picture. I’m very fair with cool pink undertones and it is next to impossible for me to find a matching foundation but that beauty looks like she could be the winner. Thanks.
Hi Ariel, thanks so much for your comment! I don’t have it to hand as it’s boxed up (I’m due to move shortly) but it’s whichever is the palest in the collection as I’m always the palest! It works well on my skin and doesn’t appear too dark, and I’m usually a Mac N17 – N15 is a bit too pale and N20 is a bit too dark, so I’m bang in the middle. Hope that helps but shout if you need any more info xx
Hi Sascha,
Thanks for responding. I checked on Too Faced’s website and the lightest color is the fair. I’m still going to try to get out to Sephora and swatch it before I buy but unfortunately it’s far away. Ironically, there is an Ulta 15 minutes away from my house but these are Sephora exclusives. :/ Comparing the shade to the Mac range helped. I’m NW 15 in the winter and NW 20 in the summer. I find I get a lot room for play with powder foundations though so fingers crossed this will work for me. Thanks again!
I know what you mean as I find mismatched powder foundations look a lot worse than liquid for some reason reason! It sounds like the lightest shade might be slightly too pale for you so it’s definitely a good idea to try one out if you can. Are there any powder foundations you use that you can recall the shade name? For example, the Laura Mercier one in Tender Rose is a good match for me too xx
Hi Sasha,
Thanks again for your help and good luck with your upcoming move. Laura Geller’s balance and brighten in Porcelain works wonders for me I also really like Covergirl’s clean finish oil control powder in Ivory. I’m definatley going to check out the Laura Mercier one now!
If you need a lot of coverage but don’t like that plasticky finish that a lot of mineral foundations give then the Laura Mercier one is well worth a try; it gives amazing coverage and a lovely glow too! I’ve located the Too Faced one (hadn’t packed it yet and came across it over the weekend) and the shade I have is Fair, so hopefully that’ll give you a better idea. I haven’t tried the Covergirl one but I’ll definitely check it out – thanks for the recommendation! xx
