First love list of the year and I’m running late on it already. I actually took the pictures a couple of weeks ago (best intentions ‘n’ all that) but haven’t had a chance to post this list until now. What’s interesting is how quickly things move as I’ve got a good idea of what’s going in February’s list already, so beauty-wise it has been a very exciting start to the year so far.
Laura Mercier Mineral Powder in Tender Rose
I reviewed this a little while ago but I’ve been loving it more and more recently; I think it’s because my skin is so much better and I don’t need to pile on the coverage any more, so I can get away with just a nice build-up of this rather than various different foundations. It’s so incredibly buildable and easy to use and it covers acne scars brilliantly.
Super Facialist Rose Miracle Make0ver Facial Oil*
This is such a dream to use when my skin is feeling dehydrated, which annoyingly it is quite a lot recently. I’m well aware that I really shouldn’t be complaining as I’d take dehydrated skin over spotty skin any day, but having this easy to use and luxurious oil around to just sooth my skin and make it feel like it’s being treated makes a huge difference. Ever since I’ve been given the go-ahead to start using masks again, I’ve been using the Rose trio every single week.
Illamasqua I’mperfection Immodest*
Obviously this was going to be in my love list for January as this is just the most beautiful pink to ever exist in the world. EVER. Seriously, sometimes I just whip it out and look at it for a bit and I’m not joking. It’s a high-maintenance lipstick as you need absolutely perfect lips to pull it off which means for someone like me who is very prone to dry lips, you can’t wear it daily, but the little extra effort is totally worth it. I’ll be wearing this for LFW with pink cheeks, heavy, glossy eyeliner and lots of mascara.
Benefit The Porefessional
I have four tubes of this dotted around my beauty table; all open due to the fact that if I can’t find one (which is often the case as my beauty table is shocking at the moment) then rather than give it a miss, I’ll reach for another tube. Even though I’ve been using this forever, I still felt it deserved a mention in my love list due to the fact that it really is the best thing I’ve found to completely fill in pores if applied correctly, unlike a lot of other similarly aimed products which tend to soften the appearance. It does take a bit of getting used to as if you use too much, you end up with a cakey look that screams “I’m trying to hide something!” and if you use too little then it makes no difference, but once you get it spot on you will never look back, so if you’re a pore sufferer then I recommend trying this. It’s also great for prepping spots for concealing and filling in ice-pick scars too.
English Rose Cosmetics Bright Eyed and Bushy Tailed Eye Cream*
It’s still early days with this eye cream as it claims to be able to reduce eye circles and bags. I’m constantly shattered at the moment so I think it’s a little hard to tell what sort of an impact this has had, although I do wonder what sort of state I’d look if I wasn’t using this! The thing I like most about it is its texture which is quite firm, very rich, yet non-greasy. I really like a rich night cream for my eyes and I often struggle to find that. The only one I’ve found so far to do the job is Clinique’s Even Better Rich, which this is not dissimilar to texturally. The packaging is also lovely in a pretty, girly way, but as you can see from the pictures, it’s quite flimsy and has pretty much broken down to the point where the lid won’t screw shut any more, making this a bit of a nightmare for travel. I am enjoying using this though and I’ll update when I’ve formed a full conclusion.
There we have my favourites for January 2013!
You are right about that pink – I need! X
