During the first stages of my pregnancy when I figured that once I hit the six month mark I’d probably be incapable of little else other than staying horizontal with a wet cloth across my brow whilst visitors fanned me (or something like that) I stated that I would always attend a Nails Inc event no matter what, and if I had to be stretchered in then so be it. Thankfully that wasn’t necessary, but the point I’m making is that there is nothing I love more than a Nails Inc event! I absolutely adore finding out what the brands future releases will be, and I really enjoy getting a chance to play with them, photograph them and leave with a few of them adorning my finger tips. This time I went for the five new shades of the Gel Effect polishes which will launch at various times next year, so keep an eye out for my NOTD post shortly. In the meantime, this post will give you a bit of a taster of what’s to come from Nails Inc early in 2014 as well as a quick look at their gorgeous Christmas sets. I’ll give you a heads-up now that I need to fact check a couple of things which I’ll then update at the bottom once I’ve received clarification.
Christmas Sets
There are four stunning Christmas sets from Nails Inc this yet, and I would happily receive any one of them. The prices start at £16 for The Editors or Best Dressed Nails – both of which contains five miniature polishes, most of which appear to be ‘effect’ finishes – to £42 for the Nail Polish Diary which contains 12 full sized polishes, meaning you’re paying £3.50 a polish which is an insanely good bargain if you ask me! The value of the Nail Polish Diary is £138, so I’m suggesting you snap it up ASAP as I can’t see it staying in stock for long. There’s also the Selfridges exclusive Message in a Manicure for £45 as mentioned in my gift guide, and lastly the Nails Inc Christmas crackers for £29.50. All of these are available now in time for Christmas.
Gel Effect Polishes – New Shades
If it’s brights you love then prepare to swoon as my word there are some gorgeous brights coming your way as part of the new shades of the Gel Effect Polish collection. If you recall, the Gel Effect Polishes launched earlier this year with just four shades, but there’s now five new shades arriving shortly and I believe some more shades coming at a much later date, but I need to double check that as I seem to have images of shades that are not in my press release for some reason! The new shades coming in January are Mercer Street – a cobalt blue that I think people are going to go absolutely crazy for; I got one in my goody bag and I’m very much looking forward to giving it some serious use ASAP; Downtown – fuchsia pink with strong violet undertones that is going on my toes the minute pedicure weather arrives; Mayfair Lane – a nude pink with strong beige leanings. In March we get two more: Soho Place – the most beautiful jade green and another one that I think people will love and Kensington Passage – a rich, coral shade that leans heavily orange.
Mercer Street and Downtown are my favourites by far as they’re such strong shades that they look very colour-pop, especially alongside each other! I’m not hugely taken with Mayfair Lane as it’s too beige for me and not flattering against my pasty skin, but I think those who love their nudes will snap it up happily. Rather confusingly there appear to be other shades in my images that I can’t place, the main one being the light blue shade that looks gorgeous, so I’ll report back my findings. I have all five of the new shades on my fingers (it looks terribly child-friendly, so that’s handy) and I’m pleased to report that the finish is still that gloriously shiny, lacquered finish that came with the four original shades.
SS14 Collection
Pastel lovers prepare yourself as you’re going to want to pre-order this set of six shades launching in March to mark the SS14 release. These are very typically spring and a little safe if you ask me, but they’re also gorgeously seasonal and extremely pretty; I’d describe them as crowd-pleasers. The limited edition shades are Colville Mews – a pale nude; Little George Street – pale blue; William Street – bright aqua; Princes Gate – pale pink; Bruton Lane – peach; and finally Sloane Street – neon pink. I really like the fact that each season Nails Inc release a little set of miniatures to mark the seasonal shades as I think it’s such an easy way to keep up with trends without spending a fortune. These will be £22 when they launch in March.
Double Ended Effects
These are the Nails Inc take on the Models Own Artstix aren’t they? These are double ended products with colour at one end and an effect at the other end. Nails Inc do some pretty fantastic effects, and I like the fact that the three new shades include some good strong colours and aren’t too wishy-washy. The combinations are Angel and Upper Street, Sheraton Street and Cavendish Place and lastly Knightsbridge Place and Sloane Street. I didn’t get a chance to swatch these or see these in action, so I can’t share my thoughts on what they look like. These arrive in March and will be £14 each.
The last launch worth mentioning is the In the Nude collection which I love the look of, but didn’t manage to get any decent shots of, so I’ve requested a press shot and I’ll write up a quick post when it arrives. As you can see, there are a few gorgeous goodies coming our way from Nails Inc in 2014.
Loving the new gel shades, am yet to try the NI gel polishes. I’ve tried the top coat and loved the effect for the first day but then it started to crack and split. The pop art 2in1’s look good too, but I’d like to see them in brighter/more vibrant colours (I’m not a huge fan of pale pastels)
