There was a time when highlighters were nowhere near as “everyday” as they are today, and during that time, the main highlighting product we all flocked to purchase was the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick. The Shimmer Bricks are available in an array of colours depending on what sort of light finish you’re after, they’re multi-use as they can work as eyeshadows, blushers and bronzers too, depending on which colour selection you go for, and they’re also so lovely to look at – cascading rows of luminous colour that will remind any jaded beauty junkie of what they love so much about make-up. The Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick was also my first ever luxury purchase – I bought it in the Bronze shade which is the completely wrong one for me, but I didn’t know then what I know now, and I just remember feeling a strange mix of smug and guilty for spending so much on a single beauty product…and there began the slippery slope!
For Christmas, there’s a limited edition version of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Pink (the shade I’ve always wanted but never actually purchased since I already have two of the other colours) which is the very definition of pretty. The packaging is limited edition, and as you can see, it’s quite different to the traditional Shimmer Brick compact style, so it’s ideal for any collectors out there. I can’t imagine there is a beauty lover who would crack this open on Christmas morning and not be thrilled – I mean, just look at it! I have loved having this in my collection and it really is the loveliest take on pink; slightly cool, mildly icy and very flattering against my pale skin tone. The brilliance of Shimmer Bricks is that you’re in complete control, so you can build them up to a seriously high-shine finish for a party look, or blend and buff it right out for daytime wear. It’s also such a light shimmer that, even though it looks quite stark in the palette, it looks very natural on the face.
The Bobbi Brown Christmas gift selection is the one I really look forward to each year, and this year it hasn’t disappointed. There’s a bit of everything ranging from products on the lower end of the price range scale, such as the trio of lipglosses or the mini palette, right up to one of their amazing brush sets or luxury palettes. There’s also a great new collection called Sterling Nights – check out my review of the palette here – which contains some lovely looking Sequin Eye Shadows alongside the more traditional, nude, typically Bobbi shades. The limited edition Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Pink is out now, priced at £35 and can be found here – link.
