I’ve been posting my Love Lists on and off since I started this blog seven years ago, and I always called them “Five Things I Love” with the idea being that I pick my five favourite things from that month…I realise that’s probably pretty self-explanatory, but still. I’ve decided from this month forward I’ll remove the limits and include as many or as few products as I like each month, as I keep finding myself having to narrow it down. I’ve still got five loves for May 2018, but who knows how many will be in next month’s Love List? I’m sure you can handle the excitement…
Pictured is a brand new bottle of Mac Mineralize Foundation, which I picked up last week and haven’t even opened yet. It’s in my Love List because I picked up a sample from my nearest Mac counter a few weeks ago (I love that you can do that – so handy!) and quickly feel in love with the dewy finish and medium, buildable coverage. It’s such a great foundation and the NC15 shade suits me perfectly. I also picked up the matching concealer and I’ll be featuring both in a review post soon. At the moment there’s a Mac promo where you can get various random freebies including some great full-sized items (if you’re lucky – you get three turns!) on £40+ spends. This foundation is £30 here – link.
Predictably, I had to include an Obagi product in my favourites because I’m getting on so well with the regime (check out my intro post here) and the one product I think everyone would see results from is the fabulous Professional-C Serum 15%, which is just so lovely and light on the skin, yet it gives a great glow under make-up and provides a great hit of short-term and long-term skincare goals. I really love it and even on days when I’m not doing anything other than staying at the house, I still use it because I’m so excited about the benefits! It’s part of the C-System which you can find out more about here – link.
The Revolution Cushion Corrector in Green is a total superstar of a product. I really like green colour correctors for cancelling out redness, and as my skin has improved, I’ve found I can get away with skipping concealer if I use a corrector followed by foundation. The problem I always have is that I apply too much and end up with skin that looks quite ashy underneath the foundation, but this cushion applicator allows for the perfect amount of application so you get just enough. You can then buff it in if you want to make sure the finish is really subtle, or just leave it as it is to wipe out the red. The product itself is creamy and easy to blend, so it’s an absolutely brilliant buy at £4 here – link.
I often have a tough time with eyelash curlers – I’m not really sure why I seem to struggle, but I always find they either pinch and make my eyes water (goodbye carefully applied make-up!) or they don’t do anything at all and become a bit of a waste of time. The tarte Picture Perfect Eyelash Curler not only looks incredibly pretty, it fits my eyes perfectly, allowing me to create a series of effective yet believable curls through the lengths of my lashes, in a device that is comfortable and kind to lashes. It’s also a pretty decent price at £17 for the curlers plus a mini mascara here – link.
Finally, I just had to include this beautiful peony pink creamy blush shade from the Cosmetics à la Carte Summer of Love Collection, because it’s just. so. pretty. It’s one of those shades that instantly lifts the complexion, it’s gives a gorgeously dewy, glowy finish and it also works well as a lip tint too – if you have five minutes to get ready, a good tinted moisturiser followed by this on the lips and cheeks and a quick coat of mascara will make you look pretty and polished with minutes to spare. The Cosmetics à la Carte Cream Blush in Romance is £30 here – link – and check out my post on the full collection (with swatches) here.
