Sometimes your skin, mind and well-being are crying out for a luxury, pampering treatment that goes on for hours, takes place in a room of serenity and costs a small fortune, because you’re worth it. Other times, you just need a good basic facial to provide speedy results without all the bells and whistles. If it’s the latter your’e after, the Elemis Skin Exchange at John Lewis could well be worth checking out.
Obviously this is still Elemis, so even a basic, entry level facial is going to meet certain standards and provide a high level of care, but the Elemis Skin Exchange is a really interesting way to get a results-driven facial involving some of the best Elemis products and techniques. It takes place on the shop floor, something I was a tad perturbed by when I arrived, but actually, it really wasn’t an issue as nobody is paying any attention to you, plus you’re placed at a 45 degree angle behind a stand, so whilst it’s nowhere near private, it’s certainly not overly exposed either – I’m someone who is big on privacy and this didn’t bother me at all.
After a quick skin analysis using a fancy machine that’ll tell you exactly where your skin needs to he most help, the treatments starts with the Ele-ssential, the bare bones of the Elemis facial experience with a deep cleanse, exfoliation, mask then a finish with products. You can just have this for £15. However, there are a series of fabulous add-ons that you can make the most of to really amp up the results of the facial. There are six Ele-vators to add to the facial, each of which provide different skin solutions utilising the Biotec technology. These are each £15 (you can have more than one if you fancy) and I had Resurface, Renew, Reveal, which is an ultrasonic, peeling treatment (although nothing aggressive – it’s actually very relaxing) to reduce pigmentation and dullness.
The next stage involves the Superchargers, which have three options available to really make the previous steps work as hard as they can. I love the fact that Elemis are using LED Light Therapy in their facials a I really am a firm believe in the benefits of it as a treatment. These steps are also £15 and again you can add more than one, if you desire. I really enjoyed my facial and found my skin to feel and look calmer, more hydrated and with that glow that you only get from a really good facial treatment. I love the fact that these treatments are very affordable – realistically you can get a very good facial for around the £45 mark, but if you’re on a budget you can even just have the Ele-ssential followed by an Ele-vator for £30, which is brilliant. I had my facial at John Lewis on Oxford Street and it’s also now available at John Lewis, Westfield too. I really, really hope they extend it to my local John Lewis at Brent Cross as I’d definitely recommend this as a very affordable treatment to keep good skin on track.
