The OPI Peru Collection is absolutely gorgeous. It’s the most perfect collection of fun and colourful shades that are so perfect for transitioning nails into more Autumnal colours. As is usually the case with any OPI collection, there is something for everyone; there are 12 great shades with a couple of nudes, some pops of pink and purple, a stunning, muted blue and finally four takes on vampy reds – even the reds alone have something for everyone! As you may have guessed, the OPI Peru Collection is inspired by the many different textural colours and hues you find in Peru, from landscapes to textiles and all that’s in-between. You can really see the inspiration in the colours, which manage to be vibrant and colourful without being too bright or summery, so a choice of fantastic shades that are perfectly suited to the colder months.
Machu Peach-u is the palest in the collection, providing a very wearable peachy nude that is next on my list to try. Somewhere Over the Rainbow Mountains is another nude-leaning shade that’s a little more brown.
Lima Tell You About This Color is a very pretty, mid-toned pink that’s a lovely, girly pop of colour without being too in-your-face. Seven Wonders of OPI is a creamy, mid lilac with a slight grey-leaning. Suzi Will Quechua Later is a more vibrant purpley pink- my swatch makes it look a lot pinker than it is for some reason!
Don’t Toot My Floot (which I hear in a Scottish accent for some reason) is a creamy lavender, whereas Grandma Kissed a Gaucho is a true purple that sits on the right side of deep and is just short of what I would deem to be a bright shade. The gorgeous Alpaca My Bags is a fabulously autumnal shade of a deeply muted blue with grey undertones.
The final four are the reds, starting with My Solar Clock is Ticking, which you can really see the Peru inspiration in; I imagine it’s the shade of jars holding Peruvian spices. Como se Llama? is a deep, vampy red, I Love You Just Be-Cusco is more of a tomato red and finally Yes My Codor Can Do is a deep, blackened burgundy that I desperately want on my toes.
I have so many favourites in the OPI Peru Collection, starting with Suzi Will Quechua Later, which was the shade I went for at the launch event. Lima Tell You About This Color is ever-so-pretty and currently on my nails right now, but I really want to try Mach Peach-u very soon too. I also love Aplace My Bags for offering something quite different and My Solar Clock Is Ticking makes me want to book a holiday to somewhere exotic. The full 12 shades are available in all three of the OPI formulas (traditional Nail Lacquer, GelColor for longevity and Infinity Shine, which sort of straddles the two, offering longer wear in a high-shine finish whilst still being easy to remove) and the whole collection is available now.
