The Origins Blooming Sheer Lip Balms are a brilliant new take on the traditional tinted lip balm, with a little bit of a twist. I would say these are more like incredibly hydrating lipsticks, as the pigmentation is really decent (and very buildable) and the wear is surprisingly good for a product that’s so hydrating. There’s also a really good colour range of eight shades, with a good mix of pinks, nudes and berry tones.
The Origins Blooming Sheer Lip Balms come housed in very pretty packaging, with a standard lipstick bullet with a floral lid, the colours of which match the lip balm shade. Inside you’ll find a twist-up lip balm, with the whole product feeling sturdy and travel-friendly – the lid sits well so there’ll be no coming off in your handbag.
The three shades I have are Nude Nectar (spelled “Nector” on the site – not sure if that’s a spelling mistake or how they want it to be spelled!), Fuchsia Fields and Night Bloom. Nude Nectar is a really light “hint-of-a-tint” shade that’s great for barely there make-up looks as it just adds a touch of colour and light to the lips; it’s more than a clear lip balm, but less than a tint.
Fuchsia Fields is a beautiful bright pink that is extremely pigmented – even after one swipe – and gives lips a really good, solid lick of colour that feels absolutely lovely on the lips as it’s so nourishing, much like Night Bloom which is equally nourishing and pigmented. Night Bloom is a deeper, more syrupy shade that’s probably a little more brown than I would normally go for, but it’s still a very wearable shade that I have worn a couple of times.
The main ingredients in the Origins Blooming Sheer Lip Balms are Flower Butters, Crushed Petals and Essential Oils, which all work together to provide a brilliantly hydrating product that really does give lips long-lasting nourishment. There’s a lot to love about the lip balms, as they do everything you could want from a lipstick: pigmentation, flattering colours and hydrating treatment, all in one quick and pretty application.
