I’m always so excited when The Inkey List announce a new product launch as they are easily one of my favourite skincare brands; affordable, extremely effective, accessible and just generally brilliant, they feature heavily in my routine and I’m always recommending them to people. The newest launch is the The Inkey List Mandelic Acid Treatment which I was particularly keen to receive as it’s so relevant to where I am in my skincare journey right now.
The The Inkey List Mandelic Acid Treatment is designed as a post-breakout treatment to target post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) which are the dark marks left by healing spots. I’m very pale and had a lot of breakouts last year, so my face is covered in dark red marks that basically look like I’m still suffering from active acne, which is particularly annoying as my skin is really clear at the moment, so now is the time for me to be working on my PIH!
The The Inkey List Mandelic Acid Treatment is a targeted product that contains 10% Mandelic Acid (an AHA with a large molecular size, so ideal for sensitive skin) alongside 0.1% retinol. Both these actives are housed in a lovely, soothing serum that contains Glycerin (a humectant that binds moisture to the skin) making this a brilliant choice for gently tacking PIH.
You use the The Inkey List Mandelic Acid Treatment by applying it directly to areas of pigmentation and it feels kind of like a cross between a primer and a serum. I’ve slotted this into my routine straight after cleansing and toning, which I do early in the night and then allow this to settle into my skin for as long as I can before moving forward with my next skincare steps. I’ve used this beneath a strong acid treatment and a retinol, and neither have caused any peeling, sensitivity or inflammation.
It’s too early for me to say whether this is an effective treatment for post-breakout marks, but I have a lot of faith in The Inkey List and this is a really great formula containing all the things you need to address pigmentation issues, particularly if you’re happy with your current skincare and just looking for something that’ll happily slot into your existing routine.
The The Inkey List Mandelic Acid Treatment is available now for £9.99 here – link.
