Time for my fourth and final post looking at the Kayali Oudgasm collection, with this one focusing on the Tobacco Oud fragrance. I’m not a lover of tobacco in personal fragrance, but I do absolutely adore it in home fragrance, which worked out well for me as I was sent the Tobacco Oud Perfumed Oud Wood which is just a beautiful concept, so I’ll be looking at both versions of the Tobacco Oud fragrance in this post. I mentioned in my previous posts that the Oudgasm collection contained a fabulous array of oud-led fragrances, with two that were very “oud-y” and two that were a more gentle introduction to the wonderful world of oud. Vanilla and Rose Oud are the gentles ones, and Cafe and Tobacco are the more hardcore oud scents, with, in my humble opinion, Tobacco Oud being the one most likely to appeal to oud fans. Tobacco Oud is unashamedly woody, with a thick, deep finish that’ll take you to church. It’s rammed full of warm and spicy notes such as clove, saffron, clary sage, and sweetened every-so-slightly with a tiny hint of honey and vanilla. There is apparently mandarin at the top too, but I don’t pick up that, instead I’m hit that huge surge of dark earthiness that lands with a heavy punch.
I believe Tobacco Oud will have a decent mix of lovers and haters; if you’re like me and favour light and sparkly scents then Tobacco Oud is not for you! I would never wear it as a perfume, but as a home fragrance it is just the most wonderful mood-setter that adds a beautiful layer or warmth, particularly on these chilly winter evenings. The Perfumed Oud Wood is available in all four of the Oudgasm scents, but I really rate the Tobacco Oud versions as it suits the intention so well. You purchase a beautifully presented pot of the Oud Wood, then you use tweezers to add a couple of chips to a wood burner, then the fragranced smoke is released, providing a fully sensorial experience.
