I’ve mentioned my beloved ZIIP HALO device over various blogs and social posts, but I haven’t given it the dedicated review post that is so deserves…until now! I have been using my HALO for around 4 months now, and I absolutely would not be without it; in fact, if I was forced to abandon all of my beauty tech (that would TRULY upsetting) and just save one item, it would my Halo, because it just does so much and is so easy to integrate into your routine. I am a such a fan and I’ll explain why later, but first! An introduction:
The ZIIP HALO is a microcurrent and nanocurrent facial toning device designed to provide both immediate and long-term results. It’s compact and easy to use, and you can either sync it with an app to try the various treatment programmes, or you can use it independently as it comes programmed with one of the treatments (The Lift) already installed. It also comes with a basic gel (Electric Complex Gel) but there are three other gels that you can purchase to use with the device if you want to up your treatment game. It’s really up to you how often you want to use it, but the suggested optimal treatment suggestion is three times a week. It also holds a charge for ages and syncs easily with the app; the whole experience is very well designed to ensure a quick and easy treatment.
The microcurrent element of the device contracts and relaxes the facial muscles, providing an immediate lifting and sculpting effect. The nanocurrent is a little more interesting as it mimics the electrical impulse our brains send out to encourage cellular turnover and collagen production, so the microcurrent does the heavy lifting getting your skin into position, and the nanocurrent encourages it to stay that way!
The app is brilliant and well worth using with your HALO. There’s a good variety of treatment options, ranging from quick fixes to more detailed facials, each one of which is demonstrated by the ZIIP founder, Melanie Simon. You can mix and match to ensure you’re getting the most out of your device and there are also treatment plan ideas if you want to follow them too.
The three gels available (alongside the included Electric Complex Gel) are Silver for hydration, Crystal for glow and Golden for a collagen boost. I use the Crystal Gel religiously and in my opinion it makes a huge difference to the treatment as it’s such a great formula, but I also think it’s important to note that you don’t have to use one of these gels, you don’t even have to use the accompanying Electric Complex Gel as all you need is something that’ll conduct the device, so a cheapy ultrasound gel will provide that. I personally wouldn’t go without the Crystal Gel but it is a big investment on top of the device, so whilst definitely a great add-on, it isn’t absolutely essential.
I use my ZIIP HALO 2-3 times a week and I start off with the All Inclusive treatment, then I go on to the Jowls treatment before finishing with the Problem Solver. The All Inclusive, as the name suggests, covers everything, the Jowls is pretty self-explanatory and the Problem Solver is designed for targeting areas of concern, which can be anything from scars and textures to active breakouts. I tend to go all-in with my Crystal Gel, applying around 10-12 pumps as I have a long face and I want good coverage. It really is important to make sure you have a good, even layer of gel as it does ensure the treatment works at full potential. I also use the gel all over my face including my nose as it’s such a great bit of skincare that feels like a good quality mask as well as a conductive gel, so I want to make sure my whole face benefits.
The first thing I always notice after a ZIIP HALO treatment is how much more even in tone my skin looks; everything looks more perky and awake and there is an immediate glow. After washing off the gel (it’s important to do this if you’re spot-prone like me) my skin feels incredibly smooth, balanced and hydrated, whilst any breakouts appear smoother and less inflamed. I actually cannot believe how much of a difference this makes to adult acne as it really does reduce the size and anger of any breakouts – if I’m having a bad time with a breakout I will just do a Problem Solver treatment focusing on the blemishes and it genuinely makes a huge difference and very quickly too. This is something I really wasn’t expecting from the device so I’m making it my mission to spread the word to all my spot-prone friends! Speaking of spot-prone, you might want to tread carefully with the included gel in the kit as unfortunately it did break me out; Crystal Gel, thankfully, had the opposite effect.
If you invest in one bit of beauty tech this year, make it the ZIIP HALO, as it’s such a perfect product that works so well and targets so many issues, it’s something everyone needs in their kit!
The ZIIP HALO starts at £379 for the entry-level kit, but there are various bundles available if you want to give the additional gels a try. Code SASCHAZIIP gives you 10% off sitewide, so everything is included! Find it all here.
