Haruharu wonder are one of those brands that I was very keen to explore as their products are right up my street; gently formulated with soothing ingredients that encourage a healthy skin barrier. I’m sure you know this already, but at the age of 40 (41 next week!) I am still struggling with adult acne, plus the added joy of ageing skin (although I think I’m doing pretty well with that so far – the benefits of being an oily skin type) so I’m always trying to find products that will straddle the balance of providing lots of hydration without making me breakout. I have worked out that my skin responds best to a layered routine, and haruharu wonder have amazing products for layering, so read on to find your new favourite!

Starting with the cleansers, I tried the Black Rice Moisture Deep Cleansing Oil and the Black Rice Moisture 5.5 Soft Cleansing Gel, the latter of which has a medium density, feels light on the skin and removes makeup effective, whilst the cleansing gel is a great option if you like a very lightly foaming cleanser that won’t leave the skin looking or feeling dry. Out of both products, I definitely favour the cleansing gel as it’s my kind of cleanser – my daily evening routine is pretty much always an oil followed by a foaming cleanser, but I only like to use ones that don’t strip the skin, so this one is ideal.

Next up we have two types of toners, the Black Bamboo Mist and the Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner, both of which are incredibly gentle and very refreshing. I usually go for milky mists in the winter as they add another light layer of hydration, so I think the Black Bamboo Mist will really come into its own over the warmer months. I am a big believer in toners – particularly if you’re acne-prone – as I think that extra step to remove any lingering cleanser whist prepping skin for skincare makes a big difference, and the Hyaluronic Toner works beautifully in all routines, giving skin a little bit of hydrating refreshment.

Now we’re finishing off with my three favourite products from the range, starting with the *amazing* Black Rice Probiotics Barrier Essence, which is a milky toner-style essence that really hydrates skin without any heaviness, leaving it looking and feeling softer, smoother and with a gorgeous glow. I’ve used this twice a day, every day since I received it (I decant into my hand and press it into my damp skin) and I will definitely be repurchasing when I run out. If you try just one product from the brand, make it this one!

Hydrating products that don’t cause inflammation are very much the brands’ strength, and I really love both the Black Rice Bakuchiol Eye Cream and the Centella Phyto & 5 Peptide Concentration Cream. The eye cream is light and soothing, leaving the whole eye are feeling nourished without any greasiness, whilst the cream is just absolutely packed full of skin-loving goodies, so it’s so much more than just a moisturiser and works great to give skin a decent hit of hydration that you can build up if you’re dehydrated. I really struggle with moisturisers as I can breakout so easily from them, but I’ve actually been quite lucky to find a few recently that I adore – this being one of them!
