HydraFacial with HydraEyes at Waterhouse Young

I’ve been doing really well with finding time to commit to regular facials and I do believe it’s paying off.  Last week I visited Waterhouse Young – a London based skin clinic – to try out their most popular treatment, the HydraFacial, with a HydraEyes add-on.

As I’m having some pretty hardcore laser treatment at the moment, I thought the HydraFacial sounded like exactly what my skin needed to help recover from the harshness of laser.  The HydraFacial is a medical facial that, as the name suggests, focuses heavily on hydrating and/or rehydrating the skin.  It starts with a standard cleanse to remove makeup and anything that might get in the way of the treatment such as dirt and grime, before the procedure itself begins.

The majority of the facial is achieved using Intraceutical Infusion, which is an oxygen-based, vacuum-like device that helps push product into the skin.  This is used for around 70% of the facial and it helps exfoliate the skin as well as reoxygenate it.  The HydraFacial contains all the big names of facial treatments and alongside a mild manual exfoliation and deep cleanse, you also have a peel and the use of red and blue light therapy at the end too – both things I think make a huge difference in skincare, so I’m happy to see both included in the one, all-encompassing treatment.

The key hydration element comes from an application of hydrating serum which is applied using the Intraceutical Infusion device.  This really does force the product into the skin in a firm but gentle fashion.  The HydraEyes element is actually a really lovely, gentle and pampering experience, which is similar to the element mentioned above – it involves the application of serum which is then gently encouraged into the skin using the oxygen application through the device.

After the treatment, my skin looked and felt noticeably softer, smoother, firmer and clearer with a lovely glow that lasted for days.  I can see why this is such a popular treatment and how people end up booking courses as it’s truly lovely – it’s pampering yet very effective, and whilst it’s medical, there’s nothing uncomfortable or unpleasant; there were a few extractions but as my skin had been well prepared with the HydraFacial device, they all came out easily and were barely noticeable.  I also love the fact that when you arrive you’re given a green juice and some healthy nibbles to truly round-off your experience.  As you may expect, a treatment like this doesn’t come cheap at £230 a go, but if you have the money and feel your skin is in need of some serious hydration and balancing then this is a fantastic treatment that really does deliver on its promises.  I would happily have it again and I really do recommend it!
