I’m very pleased with myself for writing “Birchbox January 2016” and not “2015” in the title. GO ME. The January 2016 Birchbox is a collaboration with Pinterest, with the focus being how 2016 can be our best year ever, with just a few little tweaks, with inspiration being found on many a Pinterest board.
The Birchbox X Pinterest collaboration box contains six products plus a #NoFilter handbag mirror. There’s also apparently a set of postcards, but I didn’t get those for some reason! I think reactions to this box will be mixed, as it contains some decent goodies from some fab brands like Caudalie and Benefit, but most other than one are sample-sized, which might upset those who like to have at least a couple of full-sized products.
One of the newest launches from the brand is the Benefit Tinted Primer which forms part of the They’re Real range. I think this is a great product to be included as you don’t need a full-sized one to get a good trial and assess whether you want to invest. The full-sized product is the Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner, which I think a lot of people will be very happy to receive. As someone who can make even the skinniest of liners look fat without really trying (not a good thing…), this’ll probably be a bit wasted on me, but I think it’s a good product to include, nonetheless.
The Absolution L’Eau Soir et Matin actually sounds very interesting, and I’ll definitely be tucking into it. It’s an organic micellar-style water that purifies as well as cleans, and the full-sized bottle comes in a press pump, which is something I really like and wish more brands would do, as it’s so handy! I am very pleased that a sample of both the shampoo and conditioner from Parlor by Jeff Chastain is included, as I hate it when there’s just one or the other! To be even more picky, I would prefer a bigger sample of the conditioner rather than the shampoo as I always use more of that and get through it more quickly. Finally, Caudalie Fleur de Vigne Shower Gel is also included, a product I think is going is straight into my gym bag. Find out more about subscribing to Birchbox here – link.
In conclusion: a good collection of samples in a lovely box, but not really enough to get excited about.
