It’s Glossybox’s 5th birthday this month, so to celebrate, the Glossybox August 2016 box is a collaboration with accessory label Rae Feather, meaning the contents includes an accessory and the box itself is either designed by the brand or an homage to the brand…I can’t really tell, but it’s definitely different to the usual box style!
The August 2016 Glossybox contents is an interesting one, as it only contains for products (plus the accessory) which might underwhelm on first inspection, but they’re good products and I think quite carefully selected, so hopefully people will be happy with the edit. There’s two full sized products, two minis and the accessory.
There was a chance to pick your own palette from four MUA favourites this month, which was a great idea as it allowed subscribers to personalise their Glossybox. I got the MUA Hall of Fame palette which is an edit of 12 of the most popular shades from the brand.
Next is the Spa to You Deep Pore Facial Cleansing Brush, which I’m looking forward to using as I’m so used to the hardcore, serious electric brushes that it’ll be nice to use something gentle and lovely that’ll just lightly work product around my face without trying to vibrate stuff to the surface or over exfoliate.
I’m not at all unhappy to find a mask in the box, especially one that sounds so appealing; the Mudmasky Facial Detox Purifying Recovery Mask is PH-balanced which I love, as I think this is an element that a lot of people ignore when it comes to skincare, mostly/probably because it isn’t exactly easy to establish the PH of a product unless you know what you’re doing, but it’s so important and I’m glad that we’re slowly seeing the arrival of products that have taken this into account. Finally there’s the Cowshed Wild Cow Invigorating Body Lotion which is fine, just doesn’t really do anything for me – it’s ideally for travel though. Also included is the aforementioned monogrammed pochette from Rae Feather, which is a little too small for serving much of a purpose, but it’s nice enough and certainly well made. I don’t tend to focus too much on the value of the contents any more as I think it’s quite a relative aspect, but it is well worth pointing out that the Glossybox August 2016 contents contains two products that have a value of £20 each (the pochette and the brush) making it quite a decent value!
