Bodhi & Birch are the loveliest brand ever, full of soul products that have been so carefully and lovingly created, you can feel the joy with every drop. The Superfood Series is something I’ve been itching to get my hands on since I first heard of it, and as soon as it was officially announced I started drooling over each and every product: How could you not want a Lemon Water Hydrosol Tonic, and Avo Bao Cleansing Balm and a Tomato Seed Cleansing Oil in your collection? This is such an exciting range, that’s extremely natural, free of essential oils and really, really good for your skin.
The Avo Bao Cleansing Balm is a deep green gel-like-oil that kind of feels like a watery jelly to start with, that quickly starts to break down into a rich oil. It’s beautiful, and I feel like I want to take it to an outdoor stream and use it with fresh water to cleanse my face. The lead ingredients are avocado and Baobab, hence the name, but there’s also plum kernel, Spirulina and green coffee, which work together to provide a whole host of vitamins and phytonutrients that’ll leave your skin looking and feeling perfectly cleansed and lightly nourished. There is an earthy smell to the balm, which might be either of the two lead ingredients (me no like avocado) but I’m always happy to use products with less than pleasing fragrances as it means that nothing has been added to mask the scent, which is exactly what you want from good skincare; the knowledge that everything in the product is there to perform a skincare role. The Bodhi & Birch Avo Bao Cleansing Balm is £55 here – link.
On my current skincare routine I can’t use other products (beyond cleansers and masks), so with that in mind I actually delayed starting my current routine so I could try these new bits from Bodhi & Birch which I knew were on their way. The Super25 Botanical Serum is a very exciting product that’s packed full of the most amazing collection of skincare oils, containing 25 (!!) of them to really amp up your routine. I bet you’re imaging a thick, unctuous, greasy mess from such a packed product, but actually the Super25 Botanical Serum is surprisingly light, although you can build it up to more of a mask-like treatment by using more. I found around 5-7 drops worked for me at a time that my skin was extremely dry, as this offered a lot of nurturing moisture. You can also use add it to other products to give them a Superfood boost. I won’t list all 25 oils because you can find them all on the product info page here – link – where you can also pick up a bottle for yourself for £75.
