The new Boots No7 Nourishing Lip Shines seemed to arrive very quietly for some reason; I only noticed it during my weekly Boots visit last week. There are two colours in the range – Pink and Peach – and I was sent the Pink one to try.
The Nourishing Lip Shines are quite a nice alternative to the tinted lip balms currently popping up all over the place, as these are instead tinted lip glosses that contain nourishing liquorice to ensure lips are treated to a boost of moisture.
They don’t really taste or smell of anything and they feel very wet on the lips – kind of similar to the feeling of applying Vaseline – so the typical stickiness associated with lip glosses is kept to a minimum.
The colour payoff isn’t great, but it isn’t supposed to be a full coverage lip gloss, more like a gloss/tinted balm hybrid.
The packaging is cute and girly and the applicator is sponge-tipped. For me, the biggest drawback is the fact that the tube is squeezable so you have to squeeze it to force the product through to the sponge tip. This is really tricky and quite hard work, although I can’t work out why as the holes that allow the product through aren’t too small and the product isn’t too thick. However, you do have to put a lot of pressure on the tube to force the product through.
The product is definitely nourishing and feels lovely on the lips. The lack of taste or scent, paired with the subtle yet buildable colour payoff makes this a great choice for every day wear. However, purely due to the packaging issues this isn’t something I would repurchase as it’s just too much hard work getting enough product out of the tube.
All in all, this is a nice, gentle pink lip tint that nourishes as promises. If you’re looking for a summery alternative to the current punchy colours in the butter/caresse ranges then this is definitely worth checking out.
Boots No7 Nourishing Lip Shine (S) is available now at Boots for £10.50.
