As promised, today I’m sharing with you six products from The Inkey List that are great for anyone who’s struggling with tricky skin; at the moment, this is quite a few of us since we’re all wearing masks (at least, I hope WE ALL are!) which is encouraging breakouts and, I don’t know about you, but I can literally trace the outline of my mask on my face based on where my breakouts are happening, so that’s a fun new addition the year that keeps on giving!
These six brilliant products are amazing for breakouts and I would really recommend giving any number of them ago if you’re having a bit of a battle with spots. I’ve picked these ones in particular as they’re gentle and non-drying, which I think is particularly important right now as the last think you want to do is upset your skin and make everything worse.
I’ll kick off with the Salicylic Acid Cleanser (£10.99 here – link) which is a really good quality cleanser that’ll gently remove any grease, dirt or mask build-up without stripping the skin. I recommend this as a really good starting point for a decent spot-fighting cleanser, but if you have skin that can get a bit sensitive, the Oat Cleansing Balm (£.9.99 here – link) is a surprisingly lightweight balm that I find really good for breaking down superficial breakouts, plus it’s lovely and soothing too.
The Hyaluronic Acid (£5.99 here – link) is probably the best £6 you’ll ever spend on skincare; this is a product that easily rivals those that costs so much more, and you can use this in so many different ways too. I use this every day, straight after a quick spritz of a mist to make sure my skin is just damp enough. I also use this mixed into dry clay masks to give it a more moisturising effect, but you can also use a big dollop as a hydrating mask – I used this a few times and quickly bought a load more, it’s just fantastic value and I really recommend adding to your routine, as many people make their breakouts worse by withdrawing hydration from their routine; try to keep in mind that spots are very rarely caused by too much hydration!
The C-50 Blemish Night Treatment (£12.99 here – link) is a really good example of how great The Inkey List are when it comes to providing products that really do target blemishes without drying everything else out. This night treatment is just a really good quality serum containing some basic spot-fighting essentials that’ll gently and effectively reduce breakouts. The serum contains Vitamin C and E, Salicylic Acid and Lotus Extract and, whilst it’s recommended as the final step in your night skincare routine, I personally like to apply it, give it a good half and hour and then follow with a moisturiser, but that’s because my skin can get very dry – if you’re more oily prone then you should be fine.
I delayed using the Kaolin Clay Mask (£4.99 here – link) because I was expecting it to be your typical clay mask: brilliantly at sucking out all the grime but also taking with it all the moisture too, but this mask is fantastic! It never really completely dries down, so you don’t ever feel like your face is being slowly tightened (really do hate that feeling) and it also washes off easily, yet your skin still feels like it’s had a good clay treatment after use. How do they do it?!
If you’re paying attention then you may note that my title says “six” but there are only five products pictured, and that’s because I gave my Multi-Biotic (£12.99 here – link) to a long-suffering friend, but I really wanted to include it as I think it’s an amazing product for anyone who is really struggling with breakouts and doesn’t want a heavy moisturiser as I love how this works to not only hydrate and balance, it also contains ingredients that will treat the issue without being too harsh or drying.
Finally, the newest spot-fighting launch from the brand is the Succinic Acid Blemish Treatment (£6.99 here – link) and again I love this so much! It’s so gentle and soothing but it works so well to take the angriness out of spots – you can use this traditionally as a spot treatment, but I tend to get a very congested chin after mask-wearing, so I spread a layer of this all over my chin in the style of a treatment mask, and leave it on for an hour before washing it off. Breakouts always look calmer and there’s never any dryness, which you can rarely say for a spot treatment.
