It has been *such* a long time since I’ve had a single skincare product that’s really had a massive impact on my skin, but the Liv Aronia Berry Blossom Face Oil has done exactly that – it just suits my skin so well! I have gone from a routine packed full of actives to a routine that mostly consists of a cleanse, a tone, a facial mist, an HA serum and this oil. Just for info for those who may not be regular visitors to my blog, my skin is starting to mature (I’m 37) but still very breakout-prone and can feel dry and sensitive if not handled correctly, so I have to find products that will balance whilst adding a good dose of moisture.
I absolutely love oils in skincare, even though they’re a source of controversy for people who are spot-prone and you do get a lot of dermatologists who recommend against using them if you suffer from breakouts, but it’s my personal belief that it all depends on what’s causing your breakouts that should be considered when deciding whether to add oil to your skincare routine or not. For me, there are lots of little things that cause my breakouts, such as the fact that my skin can react to a lot of different ingredients, plus stress and anxiety really don’t help either, but the worst thing for me is when I upset the balance of my skin, which often happens as my skin is particularly hard to balance. I have to find products that will help me with breakouts whilst also help me with hydration, and as these two things often conflict each other, it can often be tricky.
With the above in mind, I seek out oils that have been formulated to help skin like mine, so I go for oils that help with inflammation, are rich in fatty acids and, most importantly for me, don’t contain rose or rosehip oil as anything rose related tends to really upset my skin. The Liv Aronia Berry Blossom Face Oil contains 6 cold-pressed superberry oils including strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, cranberry and blackberry, alongside skin-loving Squalane, You think this would result in a fruity fragrance, but it’s actually very mild and non-descript. The oil is of a medium consistency and a light to medium shade.
The first time I used this I liked it immediately; my skin looked fresher and brighter with that balanced dewiness that comes with using a product that really agrees with your skin. After just a few days of using this, my breakouts started to clear up and I haven’t had a bad breakout since. I use five drops of this which is more than enough, and I apply it over an HA serum which I sandwich with spritzes of facial mist. I haven’t tried it under makeup but I have a feeling it would provide a beautiful base; I just use it at night and it’s allowed me to reduce my routine to a quick five minutes which I’m thrilled about.
The Liv Aronia Berry Blossom Face Oil is an oil that I think would suit most skin types, but those with tricky skin like mine would likely see the most benefit. If you struggle with breakouts, sensitivity, dehydration or inflammation then I would really recommend using this oil – I’ll definitely be repurchasing once I run out. It’s £40 for 30ml here – link.
