It’s been absolutely ages since I featured any newness from the iconic makeup brand, Stila, so it was a total pleasure to revisit the range and find out more about both their Fall and Holiday collections. The thing I really like about Stila is that they don’t subscribe to fads, choosing instead to provide wearable, flattering makeup rather than jumping on the latest trendy bandwagon, so you get products that are timeless classics, great formulas and all-round icons that will become permanent fixtures in your daily makeup collection.
That leads me nicely to the Stay All Day Smudge & Set Waterproof Gel Eye Liners, which are available in 10 of the best liners shades I have ever seen: such a great mix of wearable yet exciting colours to suit all tastes – there’s a little bit of something for everyone:
Stingray Black – true, deep, matte black
Damsel Dark Brown – blackened, matte brown
Lionfish Bronze – shimmering, mid brown
Espresso – neutral, matte brown
Plumfull – grungy, matte grape
Vivid Sapphire – deep, matte navy
Electric Lapis – shimmering, mid blue
Cypress – jewel-toned, matte green
Silver Lining – gunmetal grey with a metallic silver shimmer
Cashmere – true gold shot through with champagne shimmer
Swatches below in the same order as the list above.
Aren’t these the most fantastic shades? I’m so fussy when it comes to colours I’ll comfortably wear on my eyes, but these are all gorgeous! I LOVE that there are are three types of brown and the gold and silver shimmers are so pretty, however, I think my favourite has to be Plumfull as it’s such a great take on that flattering, aubergine-y berry tone and it’s just such a wonderful colour.
So we’ve covered the colours, but how about the formula? This is one of the most versatile liners I’ve come across as it starts off with a really creamy, blendable texture, but once in place, it does not budge. What this means is that you can use it as a typical liner as the pen point is sharp enough, or you can use it a a shadow as it blends out beautifully. Also, it works on the waterline too, so it really is replacing a lot of products.
Now on to the Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Colour, which is unfortunately only available in three shades – Light, Medium and Dark – but don’t be put off by the alarmingly orange colour of the Light packaging as the colour of the product is actually surprisingly neutral; I can wear it and my undertone can pull out of the warmth in even the coolest of tones so it is a good shade!
I really like the nib of these pens, which are basically tightly packed brush heads, so you get an almost watercolour-like finish to the application. I would imagine it would be quite tricky to get that super sharp, angular finish with these, but if you’re like me and prefer a softer and more natural brow then you are going to love these. Much like the aforementioned liners, these apply easily and stay put.
Finally, let’s have a quick look at the holiday sets, which are really good this year, with a small but perfectly formed mix of options:
