Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Jemma Kidd during an event that was aimed at introducing us to both the JK Range (there are two Jemma Kidd ranges; the main, Pro range and the sister range, JK Jemma Kidd, which is more of a fun, funky, younger range) and the new Masterclass@Home experience.
We started the event with a brief introduction from Jemma regarding her ranges, before being given a taster of Masterclass@Home by her international make-up artist and brand co-creator who’s name I’ve annoyingly forgotten! He ran us through a few of the base products in the JK range and how to go about applying them. I really loved this aspect of the event as I do think that a lot of knowledge is presumed of beauty bloggers, and whilst I think most of us have a general idea of what we’re doing with make-up, it’s incredibly handy to watch a pro do it and be talked through it step-by-step.
As I mentioned, this was a taster of the Masterclass@Home experience which involves pretty much the same thing, tailored to your own individual requirements. So if you fancy being talked through how to go about achieving a smoky eye, or the best way to conceal under eye circles, then you can specify this and the professional make-up artist will talk you through it. There’s no ‘once we’re done you can buy lots of Jemma Kidd products’ type hard sell and the experience costs £20 for 2 hours worth of teaching per person, although there is a minimum class size which I believe is 6. You can have this in the comfort of your own home or at a venue of your choosing and I do think this is a really beneficial experience for both make-up experts and novices alike. I certainly learned a lot from my taster session.
JK Pro Moisture Tint |
My favourite products that I had a chance to play with were the Pro Finish Moisture Tint, the Mannequin Skin Concealer and the Pro Flat Top Foundation Brush. The Moisture Tint is a light coverage, easy to blend tinted moisturiser that adds just enough cover to tone down redness and leaves skin looking very dewy and healthy. Obviously I love anything that leaves skin looking in much better condition than it is, so inevitably I was going to zone in on the skin products! The Concealer comes in a very blendable and easy to work in formula that can be built-up whilst still looking natural. The best thing, for me, was the Foundation Brush which is *amazing* for buffing in concealer. I literally just slathered on concealer, buffed it in then repeated until I’d achieved the coverage I wanted. I really believe that buffing concealer in (rather than applying and patting) is the absolute best way to get a clean, natural finish so anything that helps me achieve this is welcome in my kit.

A couple of other bits worth mentioning in the JK Range are the Mannequin Skin Perfector Kit and the City Chic Eye Kit.
JK Skin Perfector Kit |
The Skin Perfector Kit is a palette of 4 skin boosting products; 2 complexion correctors in green and yellow, 1 eye and lip primer and 1 highlighter. This is a really handy kit for taking your concealing to the next level and I really like the fact that there’s a primer and highlighter included for the finishing touches. It’s also really handy for touch-ups on the go and comes with an insert that tells you where the products can be applied.
JK City Chic Eye Kit |
The Chic Eye Kit is a real winner in my eyes as it’s got everything you need for a really lovely smoky eye, covering both greys for traditional smoky eyes and brown for a more natural take. Also included is a double ended brush, but what’s truly innovative about this palette is the mirror, a small part of which pokes through the back of the palette for on the go checking! I love this idea as you can just grab and look rather than having to open up the palette each time you want to check your reflection, which makes me sound a bit lazy really doesn’t it? Anyway…..

I’ve not tried anything from Jemma Kidd previously, so this event proved to be a great introduction to the range and I’m thoroughly enjoy trying out the innovative and easy to work with products.
