Nars Tinted Moisturiser Review
Women who have a love for beauty products usually have a particular area which they are moreย interested in than others. For some itโs eyeshadows or lipsticks but for me itโs face products thatย contain protection from UVA and UVB rays. This has been my specialist subject for a long timeย now and I think my skin has benefitted. Using such products daily is one of the best ways to slowย down the ageing process.
It wasnโt so long ago that if you wanted a base that had good broad spectrum protection you had toย accept that your face would look a bit greasy and have a white undercast. Thankfully this isn’t theย case any more and the NARS Tinted Moisturiser is a great example of a product that looks goodย and protects at the same time.
After a bad experience with the Clinique CC Cream where I initially liked it but rapidly went off it,ย I wanted to wait awhile before reviewing the NARS product. However, Iโve now been using it forย about 2 months and Iโm pleased to report that my positive first impression has lasted.
I think the best think about it is how easy and quick it is to apply and blend which makes it perfectย for days when time is short. Itโs described as giving a โtranslucent veil of colourโ but to make sure Iย get the sun protection benefits I use a fair amount and would say when used this way the coverageย is medium. The end look is slightly dewy but not overly so. There are 11 shades varying from paleย to dark so people with a wide range of skin tones should hopefully be able to find a shade thatโsย good for them.
The ratings of SPF 30 and PA+++ means it offers good sun protection from both UVA and UVBย rays if used sufficiently. To learn more about what sun ratings to look out for and what they meanย you can check out my post on the subject here.
Because Iโm extra cautious, I use a bit of moisturiser with broad sectionย protection first but on cloudy days it should be fine to use on itโs own or over serum as it is aย hydrating product.
It also claims to reduce the appearance of discolouration and dark spots in 4 weeks but as Iย havenโt used it for 4 weeks solidly and discolouration isnโt a problem for me I canโt comment onย this. Also, my priorities for a base are sun protection and a good finish and I feel rather ambivalentย towards the recent trend to include skincare benefits.
It has a nice citrusy smell and the ingredients list does include Limonene which is a scent thatย naturally occurs in the rind of citrus fruit and Citral which has a lemony scent and found in the oilsย of lemongrass, lemons and oranges. It is oil-free, paraben-free and non-comedogenic. However,ย Talc is included in the ingredients list which I know some people like to avoid.
To sum up, I really like this product and I think the biggest endorsement I can give is to say that Iย will definitely be repurchasing.
Nars Tinted Moisturiser is ยฃ28 for 50ml and is available here – link.
This seems to tick a lot of boxes, oil free, paraben free, fragrance free (?) and it looks really lovely on your skin too. I’ve been looking for something just like this for a while now, I thought I’d found ‘the one’ with Omorovicza’s bb cream, but in reality it looked really poor on me. Definitely going to test this when I’m next at a Nars counter.
If you’re a BB fan, have you tried the Dr Jart+ range at Boots? There’s some really fab ones that offer varying levels of coverage. Or the Ginvera Green Tea one? I haven’t tried the Nars one (it was a guest post) so I can’t compare xx
