Super savvy Harvard Business graduate Grace Choi has done what all beauty-lovers dreamed of by creating a 3D printer, the Mink Printer, that allows you to print your own make-up, I kid you not. You find a colour you like (think of the possibilities!!) and find it’s colour code, then your printer will be able to print that shade in either a powder or a cream, depending on your preference.
The Mink Printer will cost $300 (£177 at time of writing) and will use the same inks that make-up companies use. It’s a bit of an investment to start with, but think of the money you’ll save and the fun you could have…I can’t wait for this to become available!
There doesn’t appear to be any limit with regards to the colours you can print either, as all you have to do is find the shade you like online (via make-up sites or you can be more creative and find colour pretty much anywhere) and grab it’s code to tell the printer what the colour is. If you’ve ever fallen in love with a shade of lipstick that then became discontinued then here’s when the printer will come into its own. What’s especially exciting is how it might change our approach to shopping; if we have our own printer then shopping trips will involve taking pictures of make-up we like so we can then grab the code and print it off at home. I’m guessing the finish will be limited to matte for powders and cream-finish for creams (funny that) but who knows what the following generation of printers will allow? Exciting stuff. Interesting concept. I wonder if it will ever really take off? Xx
I really hope it will as it’ll be so much fun; I don’t think it will completely replace make-up purchasing (although you never know) as it won’t supply textures, plus we don’t know how much the inks will cost, but I think it’ll add a fun and novel dimension to beauty xx
This is insane, in a good way!!
It’s phenomenal isn’t it? I can’t wait! xx
Looks like something from a cool futuristic movie. haha
