The day is finally here! The No7 Match Made Lipstick Service is live both online and instore and I am VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS. The online lipstick finder is fab; as long as you know what foundation shade you are, which I thankfully do. I’m Calico, which is the palest shade available in the No7 Foundation family so on the online finder I select “Calico” and I’m then presented with a selection of colour shades; Coral, Pink, Plum or Red.
I notice the Nude category is missing, plus there was a mention in the press release of light and dark pink categories which don’t seem to be there, but that might be something that’ll be added at a later date. One thing I have noticed is that there are a few foundation shades that don’t have some of the colour categories attached to them. For example, Warm Ivory only has Coral, Pink and Red options. Whilst I realise that this might wind you up if your skin tone falls into that category, I think it confirms the authenticity of the service – they couldn’t find the right colour match in that category for you, so rather than add something close that may or may not work, they’ve not added anything at all. I’m sure as the the add to their colour range this will change.
Once I’ve selected which colour family I’d like (I went for Pink; shocking, I know) I’m then faced with a selection of shades from either the Stay Perfect or Moisture Drench range. I can then pick which shade I like and it will appear on the model lips on the right, who has the same skin tone as me. Interestingly it seems to be the same model for all lips, but the skin colour changes depending on what you select. Once you’re at this point, you can then select which shade you’d like and go ahead with buying it. It’s a really, really interesting concept that I like very much. Lipstick matching is tricky and very few people get it right without luck on their side, so a service that’s designed to take the guess-work out is a winner for me.
