I am so excited about this new innovation from Boots No7, which is an extension of their Match Made line. ย For those unfamiliar, I believe it was 2012 that we saw the arrival of the Match Made gadget at Boots No7 counters. ย This awesome gadget took images of the skin on your face to determine the best match for your skin tone in the entire No7 foundation range. ย All foundations were simplified so once you had the test to match your skin tone, you then decided what you wanted from a foundation and found the corresponding shade. ย It was such a fab idea and I still think it’s a great concept for those who have a hard time matching their skin tone to foundations.
Now we have another arrival, which is the Match Made Lipstick Service. ย Once you have had your skin tone matched to the right foundation, you can then find a list of lipstick colours that have been established to be the most flattering against your skin tone, thus taking the guesswork out of finding your perfect lipstick shade. ย As someone who is lucky enough to have access to some of the very best industry experts to advise me on what suits me colour-wise, I still find myself getting it wrong and wearing shades that don’t suit, as well as being unsure of colours that everyone says suits me, so clearly I have no idea! I do think it’s really difficult to be objective and a lot of other factors come into play (for example, if I’m having a day where my confidence is high then pretty much any shade will suit me in my opinion!) so this new guide is fantastic and I absolutely love it!
Now onto the lipsticks themselves. ย There are 43 shades in total which are grouped into six colour collections: Light Pink, Dark Pink, Plum, Coral, Red and Naturals and all of these shades have been proven to flatter one or more complexions, which is why they were selected. ย I’ve included the lightest shade match (my shade, which is Calico) and the darkest which is Walnut. ย I love the fact that each skin tone has a selection of shades under each colour category, as when I first heard of it I thought it might be a case of “here’s your perfect nude” and “here’s your perfect red” which would take the fun out of lipstick shopping, in my opinion. ย They’ve been tested over a decent spectrum of ages, skin tones and hair colours to ensure a good mix of flattering shades, and they’ll be available in either Moisture Drench or Stay Perfect, both of which are ยฃ9.95. ย I CAN’T WAIT to get my hands on some of shades and see what impact it has, so I’ll report back and update you on my thoughts. ย I really hope this is as amazing as it sounds and as it launches this Wednesday (3rd September 2014) it’s going to be great to read about what people think!
What a brilliant idea! I find that just looking at the huge range of colours I get confused, and then when you try some of them they don’t appear anything like the colour of the stick. I will definitely try this out when I am over.
So true! xx
Love this idea… Can’t wait to try it xx
It’s exciting isn’t it? I can’t wait to get my hands on some of the shades! xx
