I’m quite new to Japanese cosmetic brand SUQQU, having only recently dabbled in their skincare range and learned their Gankin massage technique (post here), so I was excited to find out more about their make-up range.
If you like your make-up fun, fresh, pretty and wearable then SUQQU is the brand for you. It may not look all that in the pan, but if you’re near a Selfridges of Fenwicks then you need to get stuck-in and swatching!
The SUQQU SS15 collection is a pretty yet bright edit containing three Blend Color Eyeshadow Quads, two Balancing Cheeks palettes, three Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist lippies and two limited edition Nail Colors. I’ve been lucky enough to have a play with the No19 from the Blend Color Eyehshadow quads, 04 – Pink Rose from Balancing Cheeks and one of the most beautiful pinks I’ve come across in a while, the EX16 – Momobara shade from Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist.
The Blend Color Eyeshadow quad was actually a lot more wearable as a whole than I expected, although rather predictably my favourites shades are both the brows. The pigmentation is strong and punchy without any fallout as the texture is quite creamy and almost metallic. They all blend beautifully and can be blended right out to a sheer wash if you’re going for something natural. In the pictures I’ve used all four shades – the bronze all over the lids with the deeper brown on the outer edge. I’ve then used the white to highlight the inner corners and the purple in the centre of both the upper and lower lash line, just for something a bit different. Blended all together it works as a little hint/nuance of colour that catches the light; I really like the purple for this. The palettes are £45 and can be found here – link.
Next up we have the Balancing Cheeks, in the shade Pink Rose (Mizuhanamoya) which contains 2 shades of complimentary colour that both work together to create a natural finish. When I got this out of it’s packaging I really wasn’t expected much, then I swatched it and couldn’t wait to get it on my cheeks – it really comes to life on the skin and both the finish and colours are so incredibly flattering and pretty.
Obviously you can use these however you like, but they’re designed to be used as a cheek colour with additional highlight and they work really well together when used in this fashion. The Balancing Cheeks are £38 here – link.
Lastly we come to my favourite of the trio, which is the Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist in Fresh Pink. There are two other shades – Baby Coral and Clear Orange – but oh my word this is a beautiful pink; warm, flattering, pretty and extremely youthful in both colour and formula, this is a truly tricky lipstick to beat and has quickly become one of my favourites.
The texture is balmy and hydrating which results in a sheer but buildable colour and I really do love this, so I’ll be stocking up! The Creamy Glow Lipstick Moists are £27 here – link.
As a final thought, if you’re unfamiliar with SUQQU then it’s worth mentioning the extremely pretty packaging products arrive in – the palettes come in little velvet pouches and the quad comes with two double-ended applicators that are actually very handy, so perfect for travel. The whole SUQQU SS15 collection is available now.
