Stars of kind and gentle skincare, Weleda, have created a gorgeous new range of products for sensitive baby skin, the Baby Derma White Mallow range. Obviously it’s a range that can be used by anyone with sensitive skin, but it’s been specifically designed to deal with common issues associated with young skin such as eczema and dermatitis. My son Teddy has very sensitive, reactive skin that I have to tread very carefully with, so I figured the Weleda Baby Derma range would be perfect for him.
I’ve been using two products on him, the White Mallow Nappy Change Cream and the White Mallow Face Cream. Ever since Teddy arrived I’ve been pretty much obsessed with trying out new nappy creams, so I was thrilled to hear Weleda had released a new one and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it! I also went for the Face Cream as Teddy’s face has been quite dry lately, so I wanted to find something delicate to add a little nourishment to his face without giving him more problems.
In my experience there are two types of nappy creams, the buttery type and the thick, white cream types. I find I use the latter creams every nappy change and sometimes I’ll use them over the top of the buttery types if Teddy has a poorly tummy. Therefore, if you’re only going to go for one then go for the cream types as they not only keep the area lubricated so nothing sticks, they also keep delicate baby bums clean and free from the dreaded nappy rash. The Weleda White Mallow Nappy Change Cream is very lightly scented making it ideal for Teddy, plus it performs as a perfect barrier between his bum and the nappy. It’s got the same sort of feel of Sudocrem, but as previously mentioned, Teddy reacted badly to Sudocrem as it stung him, so this is a brilliant and far more gentle alternative for those babies who struggle with Sudocrem. It’s £8.95 here – link.
The Weleda White Mallow Face Cream is exactly as I expected; nourishing yet light which allows for a nice boost of hydration without a greasy finish on Teddy’s face. It’s the sort of product that could be built-up to deliver more moisture, but a light layer gives enough hydration to just take the edge of troubled baby skin. I also think this would be a great choice for adults with extremely sensitive skin as it’s a great balance for people with issues of dryness of dehydration. This is probably my favourite baby face skin so far, so it’s well worth trying if you have a baby with dry skin – obviously it can be used all over the body and doesn’t need to be limited to the face. It’s £9.95 here – link.
When Teddy first arrived I was extremely cautious about what I would use on his skin, so I only used Weleda products to bath him and moisturise him post-bath, therefore I was really pleased these new arrivals launched and I hope they add more to the line! In the White Mallow line there’s also a Body Lotion for £11.95 here – link.
