Any new take on mascara almost always results in me getting my credit card out to find out what the fuss is about, and the latest arrival from Lancome is no different. The Lancome Grandiose Mascara is aesthetically a thing of beauty which I am happy to describe as the prettiest mascara packaging I surely ever did see. I mean, just look at it! The slender tapered handle containing a black rose is just soooo pretty.
However, pretty packaging aside, the Lancome Grandiose Mascara is designed with a very specific intention. It contains a ‘swan neck’ that should, in theory, allow effortless application as it angles differently depending on how you hold it. Hopefully the below GIF will give you a better idea of what I mean. The angle of the brush then allows you to get into every nook and cranny, with the result being a full coverage mascara that doesn’t miss a single lash.
I purchased this pretty much the minute it launched as I was really keen to see how it performed. I’ve always go on well with Lancome mascaras and I do think they create some of the very best in their price bracket, and I don’t think Grandiose is letting them down at all. I used this as soon as it arrived and found it relatively underwhelming, so I then put it aside and didn’t use it again until a few weeks ago.
I think I was probably expecting too much – having lusted after it for quite a while – as it really does deliver on ease of use, wonderful design and good coverage. The mascara itself is a thick, dense black that leaves a carbon finish on lashes with a little bit of gloss.
It adds good length, but more than anything it adds volume, giving lashes a much thicker appearance without any clumping. All-in-all, it’s an impressive arrival that’s stunning to look at and gives good lash.
It isn’t an absolute essential for mascara lovers unless you really struggle with application (especially for the tricky eye that many struggle to reach – you know the one that makes you contort to apply mascara without getting it all over the place) but it’s a lovely arrival that certainly has added something a bit different to the mascara market. It’s priced at £24.50 here – link.

Sounds amazing! I’ll have to check it out.
It’s definitely a grower and something I reach for regularly now xx
