There was considerable excitement when the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Balm Perfectors launched, and as someone who cannot get enough of a good tinted lip balm, I couldn’t wait to get in on the act. There are six shades in total, one of which – 03, My Pink – is a shade that adjusts to personal lip tones, meaning it’ll be different on everyone, and I have that one as well as two more shades to show you.
These are really interesting lippies as not only do they look and feel gorgeous, providing lips with a gentle wash of extremely hydrating colour, they also give lips a kind of glow that I’d struggle to describe, but the ‘instant light’ reference in the name is spot-on. They lift the face and really do add a lot to a make-up look, without any shimmer or glitter, so it must be wizardry!
The Lip Balm Perfectors are presented in a tube that matches the colour of the product with a slightly mirrored, pale-gold bullet and matching lid. The balm is quite firm and twists up and down easily, plus they travel well and aesthetically they’re understated pretty.
The full shade line-up is 01 Rose, 02 Coral, 03 My Pink, 04 Orange, 05 Red and 06 Rosewood, with the first three swatches above. My favourite of the three is actually Coral, which is interesting as I thought it would be one of the other two, considering how much I dig a lovely pink lip.
Starting with 01 Rose, which is a pretty, girly pink that’s quite warm and leaves hint of a tint. It’s a salmon pink that I really like, and it’s quite a handy, everyday shade that will work with most looks I think.
Coral 02, as I said, is my favourite of the bunch as it works particularly well with the light (bottled) tan I’m currently sporting – I feel it just lifts the whole look and is the right colour and texture to be pretty and easy. A word of warning though, it’s very peach-toned, so if your teeth are less than white then this will highlight that fact, so you’ll either need to get the bleach out, or just try not to smile too ‘toothily’ which is what I’ve been trying to do…
Lastly we have My Pink 03, which, as I mentioned earlier, is a shade that adjusts to your skin tone. These sorts of colours always come out a deep, relatively dark magenta shade on me, and this one is no different, although as it’s such a lovely formula I still find myself wearing it more than I thought I would. As you can see from the swatch, it’s quite a blue-toned pink, but it might be completely different on you!
Big thumbs-up from me and I’m melting through Coral at a rapid rate. I think I’ll probably pick up Red too as you can’t beat a good hint of red lip balm. The formula for these is one of the most moisturising I’ve tried in a while – lips really do feel much better after wear, so if you like a tinted lip balm, you should absolutely add at least one of these lovelies to your collection. You can find them here – link – for £18 a pop.

Wow those lipsticks are really nice! I love the colours. I usually look for lipsticks that can offer the shine and protection without looking too loud. Those colours are perfect. They look so natural!
Thanks, you’ve described them perfectly as they are very natural, yet they give a lovely, brightening and polished look – very, very pretty and well worth trying.
