I’ve been back in hospital this week with a very poorly Teddy, and whilst there are far, far more important things to have been focusing on during my stay with him, the one thing I really did miss was good skincare; it’s virtually impossible to prioritise skincare and anything beauty related when in that kind of situation, but last night, a few hours after returning home with a happy, bouncing Teddy, I was very aware of just how excited I was to be reunited with some of my favourite skincare bits – yesterday my mum mentioned how bad my skin was looking and today, one of the first things she said was “your skin cleared up quickly!” which proves just how effective good skincare can be. I’m covered in stress-related, hormonal breakouts which were very angry yesterday, and today look like they’re mostly ready to dry up and fall off. With that in mind, I thought I’d share with you a couple of great Micellar Waters that I’ve been finding myself reaching for recently to remove my make-up before starting my skincare routine, and these are the Boots No7 Beautiful Skin Micellar Cleansing Waters.
The original Beautiful Skin collection from Boots No7 was the first collection I received as samples from Boots; since Boots has always been my place of beauty worship, this was a really significant moment for me and I remember getting so excited about the launch, especially as it arrived alongside some very pretty lipsticks and blushers. The Boots No7 Beautiful Skin Micellar Cleansing Waters are available in two variants, Normal/Oily or Normal/Dry, but I think if you’re oily or spot-prone you could happily get away with using either as they’re very gentle. The main difference between the two is that the Oily version now contains spot-fighting favourite, Zinc, whilst the Dry version contains a mineral blend to help lock-in moisture; both of which are things that all skin types can often benefit from. The downside of these micellars is that they are pretty heavily fragranced, which is a real shame as if they smelled a little more like skincare and a little less like perfume, they’d be pretty much perfect – they melt through heavy duty make-up – including tough mascara and thick foundation – with ease, leaving skin feeling really clean without leaving a stripped sensation, nor stinging my sensitive eyes, the latter of which is definitely worth pointing out since you can work it right into the lash line without causing any discomfort. I would never recommend using these as a single cleanser and you definitely need to follow with something else if you want to give your skin the care it deserves, but as a make-up remover in the evening and a quick morning cleanse (if you must) these are pretty fab; I can’t say I’m reaching for either one more than the other, but I like the pump-action packaging and simple yet effective formula.
