Real Techniques Ultimate Base Set

Real Techniques are my favourite brush brand by a mile.  Not only are they brilliantly affordable, they’re also really well made and perform amazingly well; I have several of the Expert Face Brushes which are great for a number of uses, not least for applying, blending and buffing-in foundation.  The Real Techniques Ultimate Base Set contains two brushes – Expert Face Brush and Deluxe Concealer Brush – as well as Miracle Complexion Sponge and a mirrored case.

They do like their brush cases, don’t they? I would actually prefer to pay a few quid less and go without the case as they’re too small for anything other than a few brushes which makes them a bit of a waste for me, but that might just be me as I suppose they have their uses.  The great thing about this kit is that the three tools are perfectly selected; the Expert Face Brush is brilliant for applying foundation or concealing larger areas, the Deluxe Concealer Brush has quickly become my favourite of the RT brushes as it’s brilliant for concealer application – it’s like a small, firm kabuki that allows you to apply concealer just where you need it, then to buff it lightly in so it’s seamless whilst still perfectly concealed – absolutely love it!

The final inclusion of the Miracle Complexion Sponge allows you to blend and buff in any areas where you’ve gone a bit heavy with product, whilst also bringing the products together for a truly clean finish.  This is such a great kit (as most RT kits are!) and especially well suited to anyone who needs more coverage but doesn’t like a heavy look as this trio will allow you to apply heavy coverage products without leaving you looking like you’re wearing a mask.  I believe the Deluxe Concealer Brush is only available in this set; I really hope that changes very soon as I definitely need a few more in my kit!
