It’s quite interesting how there are a few similarities between the August 2016 Birchbox and the August 2016 Glossybox, as they both lead with accessories, contain a mask and a body product and have that overall Summer vibe. I actually prefer the bag that the Birchbox August 2016 contents came in as it’s spacious enough to pack a good few bits in, which I like – I am not one for skimping on products…
There is no box this month, and instead all the products arrive in a Scuba Birchbag with a zip in one of four colours; I got the Coral Reef one, with the other options being Blue Fin, Yellowtail or Pink Pufferfish, cos fish, innit. The contents includes two full-sized products and three relatively decent-sized minis, as well as a perfume sample.
I always have a soft spot for a really good liner, especially in colours other than black (although I love black too, obvs) so my favourite product in this month’s Birchbox is the Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner, which will be in the shade either Expresso or Mulberry. I haven’t put it fully to the test yet, but first impressions suggest it’s pretty hardcore, since I swiped it on my hand, went to smudge it and it didn’t budge! I’m always happy to receive anything from the Philip Kingsley range, just as I’m always happy to receive a dry shampoo, so the inclusion of the Philip Kingsley One more Day Dry Shampoo is a winner for me. Another handy, albeit not especially exciting, product is a good hand gel, so the Merci Handy Antibacterial Hand Cleansing Gel works for me.
You know me, I can rarely say “no” to a good face mask, so the Balance Me Radiance Face Mask will get used, especially as it’s a five minute one too. I’m not really much of a body scrub fan at the mo – I can’t remember the last time I used one – so I’ll be giving the Anatomicals The Buff Stuff Citrus Body Scrub to someone more into it. By default the perfume sample comes last as I’m not a fan of dinky perfume samples featuring in boxes since you can usually track them down for free. Having said that, I’ve always liked the English Laundry samples I’ve had in previous boxes so I was happy to see a new one from them – included in the Birchbox August 2016 box is the Signature for Her Eau de Parfum.
